Help with powdercoating - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

When I take my frame to get powdercoated what should I take with me?
Can anyone give me a list of things I want to get done?

like should I get the rocker boxes/end caps done?
suspension?

maybe someone could make a list for me...thanks

You can take just about anything you want. Frame, suspension, inner front fender wells, skid plates, bumper brackets, axles, core support, battery tray, spare tire carrier, seat brackets, washer jar bracket, any brackets and pulleys from under the hood, etc. etc. I've even heard of people powdercoating the backsides of their fenders. It's up to your wallet. I personally do the list above, minus axles. I epoxy prime and paint those. It's pretty easy to negotiate with most of the powder coaters that I have come across. Sometimes it doesn't cost that much more to add a few more pieces.

Like Huskerboy said, anything you want done. I did everything on my chassis. Frame rails, cross members, leaf springs, differentials, transmission, and transfer case. It's really more an issue of what you can afford to have done.

Have you decided what kind of susension your going to go with?

It would be better to take everything at once to get a better deal. Make sure you make a list of all the item and so does the shop so there no trouble if something happen and you both know what went in and what should be coming out.

Yeah, decide what kind of suspension are you going with and get it all together take all your stuff at once, but also if you want your frame to stand out you might want to powdercoat all the suspension components different color than the frame itself (ie: frame=black, arms, spindles, sway bar power sreering box, etc=gray), it looks just cool! another board member has that setup in his PU.
