Do you remember which manufacturer you used from Summit? Was it Keyparts? There are a few others. Looks like keyparts is the only one in stock.

I talked to southwest classic and they use triplus and said they have no issues with the fit of their cowl hoods. Just more expensive.

I'm 75% sure mine is the Keyparts. I'm not home this week or I'd go check and see for sure. It is getting fitted and painted this weekend. I'll be sure to post a picture and my thoughts as soon as it's done.

Re: Cowl Hoods

I picked up some 67-72 wheel tubs (widened & stock width) from Summit & both were from AMD. Point being, there are probably multiple 'sources' that Summit distributes for.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

For sure. There are a number of manufacturers for the hoods as well. Just trying to make the best decision for which to go with or not go with.

Thanks for your insight. Dig your truck btw.

Re: Cowl Hoods

I used up22 in Victorville, but shipping will likely be a deal killer.

On a side note a 2.5 inch version didn't obstruct my view, and a 4 inch version was fine by me. Although my friend who is quite a bit taller 6'3" hated it, and I am only 5'9". Depending on the line up.

Depending on what you want to do with it. You can seal the carb to the cowl for cool air to the motor. Or vent hot air out of the engine compartment.

Ok, I checked my box/hood and it's a Keyparts brand. The painter picked it up this morning. He won't have it finished for install until next weekend, so it'll be sometime after that before I get it on and pics posted.

Re: Cowl Hoods

Get the Key parts hood, most of the Goodmark and private labeled hoods are the Key Parts brand. I used to sell them and was a goodmark dealer 75% of the boxes were keyparts. Probably sold over 200 of them never had a come back.

Re: Cowl Hoods

My opinion..... I give it 3.5 out of 5. It would be a 4.5, but the front to back measurement is about a 1/4" shorter on the Keyparts hood from the OEM hood. This leaves a gap at the wiper cowl that is too big IMO. The pros of the hood are it's very straight and smooth. While not perfect, It fits the same as the OEM hood did from side to side.
For those who might ask, I did black because I plan on doing a Black over red paint scheme, Sequoyah special style, eventually.
