The guys here helped me make up my mind. I did start to polish the tank but what a waste of time. Raw aluminum is nothing but a maintenance problem.

We put a gloss clear coat on the tank. If you look at the back of the tank in the picture you can see a reflection of some stuff in the background. In my opinion it needs to be shiny and it does look good. I have gotten so many ideas from you I hope I can share a few back!!

why surgar coat it, I steal every idea I have I am a big mind changer. I had this frame done about 3 years ago with a nice Ride Tech syspension and air ride system then I got on this forum and decided I wanted to lay frame.

no kidding, there are lots of talented people on Garage Journal. check out ETEK. He is a great illustrator of how he does stuff and very talented. I am not so good at the illustration part. I just like to document accomplishments and if someone has a question about it I try to answer. Good illustrators have very successful threads because there is so much to learn by seeing how it is acutually done.

mark, as totally impressed as i am with your truck, i have spent the past 2 hours on your garage build. kudos brother! you and your wife have done an AMAZING job on the house and garage. God has given you so many great talents and you are using them superbly. i admit i am envious! lol i pray i am one day blessed to have a shop a 1/4 of what yours is. my "shop" is a 14' box off of a truck. but hey, it keeps the tools dry great job on both builds. i must watch this one progress.

Here is the paint we used on the frame and other exterior parts. It is a single stage paint and it won't break the bank. I don't have the price off of the top of my head. It's pretty hard paint and I am happy with it.

Truck is coming out terrific...

I can understand the deal with the guys with the ferraris, lambos, etc as living in south florida these expensive vehicles are a dime a dozen however when any of us pull up with our modified old vehicles the crowd just flocks to see them.

I went through the same decision as well. The main reason I did not powder coat is we welded up a lot of holes and wanted to smooth the welds around the suspension parts with bondo (we did use All-metal as well). That ruled out powder coating because the heat would affect the bondo. I believe if you use All-metal filler it can be powder coated.

Yes, we do use a PPG primer before painting.

Re: 69 slammed, 22"/24" bbc shaved clean

I was at Miami beach yesterday and saw 5 lambos in a 30 min time frame. Ya they were cool, but not nearly as bad a$$ as the silver 63 vette with an ls7, c6 z06 brakes etc. The thing sounded like a heavily modded c6 z06.

I personally think that this build is one of the best on the forum. It is one of the cleanest I have seen. You should be proud of what you have done.
