I thought they came with 5.7 and 3 speed automatic's. Am i wrong? thanks.

A C10 in 86 would have come with a 305. I am not sure if 350 cubes were available in half ton at that point. 700R4 was available but I'm not sure if a TH350 was (3 spd auto)

The TH350 ended production in 1979. The 1980-1986 transmission was a TH350C which had a lock up torque converter.

Was a 700R an option?? I have a guy wanting to trade me a really nice 86 silverado. He says it all factory stock, he said it had a 700R4 overdrive trans.
I thought the 700 came out in 87 for the squares..??

The 700r4 was available as early as 82, as we bought a new c10 with a 6.2/700r4 even with the weak 6.2, the early 700s were weak, or at least the one we had was.

My 86 Silverado has just that package. 305/700R4. I thought it has a V6 when I took it for a test drive before I bought it because of the lack of power.

I'm not 100%, but I think a 350 wasn't available in a 81-86 C10. Only 6 cylinders and 305 V8. Some 82-87 C10's had 700r4 and some THM350c.

I believe the 350 was dropped from the half tons in the square body except some of early California models. I don't think ESC passed pollution standards there.

Mine was a 305/700r4 and it had just as much power and spunk as it does now with a 350.

If I am reading the docs correctly from the GM Heritage center for the 1/2 ton there was a single 350 (LS9) option mated with a 700R4 (MX0) for California only. Only 2.73 and 3.08 gears were available with that option.

305 (LE9) was available with 700R4 (MX0) Non-Cali with either 2.73, 3.08 or 3.42 axle ratio. This was also available in Cali but lost the 3.42 gear option.

1982 the 700r4 came in the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks 2wd and 4x4.The turbo 350 was used 73-81 1/2 ton and some 3/4 ton.The 305 was used 81-87.

The stock transmission in a 1985 Siverado if it was a 3 speed automatic would have been a TH350C not a TH350. The TH350 was not produced after 1979. The TH350C has a lockup torque converter and the transmission and converter are not interchangable between the two.

simple answere is, Silverado's were only available with a 305 (5.0), the 700r4 was a upgrade option to the th350

Can Confirm - 1982 305/TH350C

Later Swapped for a 350 Crate.

The 350 was installed in all California bound trucks however if they were normally meant to have a 305.

My 86 before the one now was a C10 short box. 305,4bbl, 700r4 and it did run good. Better after a few small upgrades. I miss it.

I also have an 86 short box that was originally a 305, 700r4, 3.42, G80 (gov-bomb) combo. Heavy duty springs, so it rides like a rock lol. Barebones otherwise....

I don't know about the 350/5.7, but according to my VIN, MY 86 C10 Silverado left the factory with a 6.2 liter diesel...

My 85 k5 silverado i bought in 87 had the 305 / 700r4 combo . The 700 was junk in those yrs and it only lasted about 70k miles. The q78 buckshots didnt help though

I bought my 82,K-10 new.It came with a 305/700-r-4 trans.
I could not buy one with a 350 engine.
Was told I had to buy a C/K-20 truck to get it.

My 86 Chevy had a 700r and a 350 cid engine. I’ve been told that 350 cid was available in Canada. My 89 Gmc also had a 350 cid and 700 trans.
