**4wd to bagged 2wd blazer ***

I have been wanting to do this for years, but just could'nt find a good project truck untill 2wks ago. found it on a local craigs list search for $200. (no motor/trans/t-case) . So my plans for this blazer are..... converting it to 2wd bagging it, I'm seriously thinking about running it with 15" ralley wheels! wide lo profile tires....I dont know. ( i have 22's if I dont like it).so as I work on her, I will try my best to post pictures that nite.

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer *** up date #1

Only had a couple of hours to work on the blazer today, but @ work today I had an idea!!! since the 67 is on hold for now and a long way from being anywhere close road worthy, why dont I borrow the front suspension from it?. it already has air bags hooked up, belltech 3" drop spindles, 6 lug CCP rotors, new bearings, channeled front x-member, notched driver side upper control arm. why not!.so I hooked it all up and just for kicks I put on the 20's and a fender.....I think I'm gana run the 20's up front and 22's on the rear. I'm even thinking bout keeping the same color combo...what do you think? so here are a few pictures of what went down today, tomorrow I plan on taking out the rear axle and messure things up for the 3-link.

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer ***

Definitely keep the paint scheme. There are a bunch of us out here that dig the two tone factory paint schemes. And I think you've got one of the best combos. I had a buddy with a real clean 4x4 Blaze with that color combo back in the day. It really played a part of solidifying my love for square bodies.

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer *** up date#2

Again didnt get much time in the man room today,( had to take my son racing), well today I took out the rear end and messured up the frame for my notch and 3-link, I wanted to mock up the rear wheel so I could see if the factory rear wheel well would fit= NO. looks like trailer fenders will get fabed in. this set in another question, my 22's are 10" wide, the factory rear end mesures from hub face to hub face 5ft 5inch.... will that be too long? I'll have to check. I did discover that the blazer has a thick lip (about 1 1/2 ) on the inside of each rear quarter panel, maybe just a little trim will clear fine?? so anyway I set a 22" in the rear to just see what it will look like, because of that thick lip and rear wheel well, the rear is held up 1 3/4", once that is change out I think she will sit perfect.

Sit's good! And I think you will need to trim the inner to make it work.

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer ***

Yeah, I mocked mine up with 20s that are tucked more than I want and I'm still gonna have to trim, so I know you are going to. I hope you take good pics of what you do there, so I can take notes.

It's looking really good though.

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer *** updat #3

did all my cutting and triming today, I got that extra 1 3/4" of rear drop, now that I have done that, I can cure that narrow rear axle problem these trucks have. I swapped all the 4x4 axles for a ford 9" that messured 66" long, it's the perfect length for my rear wheels. the only bummer bout today is that I had to remove the center mount when i cut out the floor. soon as I get my rear axle tomorrow I'll messure up the rear for my notch, keeping my fingers crossed that it's not too big so I could keep my rear seat. I'm also getting the trailer fenders tomorrow. a friend came by to check my progress, when I explaned why I'm triming the rear fenders for an extra 1 3/4" drop..... he said I was KRAZY (he's also a farmer with a lifted 3/4ton ford...TTTTT) anyway , till tomorrow guys

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer ***

Sup guys, I havent been getting too much time on the blazer, I messured up the rear notches and looks like I only need 6 1/2" to clear my axle. had some made today at my friends fab shop, also got my trailing arms notched and bushing tubes welded to them, since I'm not going to lay rocker I think the notches will be ok to keep the seat. anyway I will post pictures soon as my new cord for my camera comes in, DAM DOGS!!!!

TTT anymore word on this project ? It's not to often you get to see well done blazers like this and it sits sooooo perfect. I'm really interested in what you did to keep the back seat.

Re: **4wd to bagged 2wd blazer ***

Mello Mel. the only thing I did was had a 6" notch made from 2x3 square tube. 6" was all I needed to clear my axle. the upper bag bracket will mount to the frame and the lower will mount on the lower trailing arm. so keeping the seat will only require raising the cut out section of the floor 2 3/4", oh bout the seat, it wont be the original one,I took the rear seat from a 2000 jeep wrangler, it's just as wide but a little lower, the foam is not as thick as the blazer seat by about 1 1/2" so in all I should only raising the seat 1 1/4".******* I HAVE LOTS OF PICURES TO POST ONCE MY CORD FOR THE CAMARA COMES IN %^&*%$$(&$!@#$%^ BAD DOGGY!!!!!!!!!
