door locks

ok, i need some help, i boght a f#$d, and i ned to replace the door lock assy. how on eath do i get them out to replace them. I can get repalcements for 15 bucks whcic is cheaper than paying a locksmith to rekey it. any help would be appreicated

tecky11... I'm actually going to move this to the General Discussion to see if we can get you some more responses.

I believe you will need to do the following:

Remove the inner door panel
Remove any vapor barrier (plastic)
Have the window rolled up -or- remove the window if it's in the way (I believe it shouldn't)
Proceed to remove the door lock assembly from the 'inside' of the door

If you can provide us with some more information on the vehicle, I bet there's an online source for this information.

Depending on the year, some of the Ford retainer clips are under the weather strip on the edge of the door.

the same way you do a chevy but on a ford.... try www.fordtruckenthusiasts.com or www.fordtruckfanatics.com either site is great... Fords arent so bad trust me i have owned three of them and besides if they were so bad why are they the only American auto maker that hasnt gone bankrupt???

My 94 exploder had the same retention clip as a chevy.
