Hmmm, lets see here....
EARL, Chevy bellhousings will not bolt up...any other style GM will though...also known as the B.O.P. bellhousing. (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) I don't know manual trannys very well, but if you go for a row your own tranny behind a caddy big block....better make sure it is a strong tranny. These monsters well turn it into shrapnal if it isn't up to the task.
As for the tranny I am going to use, I was lucky enough to be able to bolt the caddy engine to the Pontiac TH350 that was in there when I got the truck. (It had a Pontiac 350/TH350 in it already) I do have a Caddy TH400 that will get rebuilt and installed, and it is a long sunuva b!tch. I don't know the length off the top of my head, and all my books are at my place. (I'm at mom & dad's right now)
Bowed, I honestly can't say...there were 2 kinds of big block mounts, the kind pictured up there that I am using...which is a 72 only, or the one I attached on this reply, which is a 68 - 71 deal.
I have never messed with inline engine towers, so I can not say.

Bowed, the 6/250 towers will work for a sb swap,& the eng mounts are the same for the 6 & the sb. I havent tryed the bb on the 6 towers, but dont think that will work due to ex manifold/header clearance issues. You would also have placement issues......the sb fits pretty tight to the firewall on 6 stands,& the bb is wider yet. crazy AL

EARLJUNIOR longhorn mail is right these thing do have monsterus low end torque but if you do CMD has flywheels for cads whith standerd transmisions their price about 300$ p m me if you want their number they have alot of fast cad stuff

I'm currently running a Lakewood Bellhousing , a Centerforce clutch with an 11 inch friction plate feeding into a Super T-10. (I bought the tranny second hand, but I got the receipt from Summit which shows the gearing.)

I'm hoping this set-up will handle the torque.

If you think I'm being a bit overly enthusiastic please say so and I'll stick with the TH400 that came with the motor. (If I can find a tail housing that is)

HELL NO i think it would be bad as hell with a 4 gear let me know how it goes my next 500 conversion is going to be a standerd with a 540ci stroker kit from cmd

Well, i think I would try it...heck, I'm putting a TH350 behind my caddy pig block.
Just don't get rid of the TH400.

Ok, I couldn't find my cheat sheet, so i went to the basement and measured my Caddy TH400.... jusst over 3 feet at 38 inches.
