See the truck below?

I'm pulling it in the garage later today to get to work.

I'm doing:

4 1/2 front, 6 rear drop
5 lug disc brakes
3.73 rear
5 lug rallys
KYB shocks all around
ECE super track bar
ECE shock extenders
ECE raised sway bar mounts
1 1/4 inch swaybar off a 85 3/4 ton truck with urethane bushings.

I figure I'll have it done in a couple of days. I'll document it all with pictures if anybody wants any details. Picutres soon!

Matt67350....I need a proportioning valve and get ready, because I'll have the rear end and rally wheels pulled and ready for you by tomorrow if you still want them.

I for one would love if you would do a pictorial on your disc swap...I'm almost ready to start on mine once I get the M/C and prop valve. I have all kinds of magazine tech articles, but another point of view never hurts. Good luck.

Great project. Just front discs right? What was your parts cost?

Back is done. -- Early Classic makes good stuff. Hardest part was removing the 4 rivets that held the upper shock mounts to the crossmember. Job was cake. Changed the whole rear end, installed the lowering springs, super track bar, shock extender kit and new KYB in 3 hrs. Time also included doing the rear brakes too.

Took me 2 hrs to dismount the tires off of the old 6 lug rallys. I'm too cheap to pay the local tire rapists...er shop 20 bucks to dismount four hoops, so I do them myself in the garage floor. <see picture for proof>

Front is apart. I had to call it a night. I need to hammer new bearing races in the rotors, but my little girl is asleep and I know the noise would wake her.

It will be back on it's feet by noon tomorrow. Then all I have to do is work out the proportioning valve deal.

Real mechanics wear Jerusalem cruisers when they work on heavy suspension stuff. Nothing like grease under your toenails.

if you want man i can mount those tires for free at school, if i was to do it at work i might get in trouble but if you want bring them by and i will take them in to school and then you can come get them the next day

73-87 swaybars bolt straight in. If your truck didn't come stock with a swaybar, you need to add the brackets to the frame. They are the same for all these trucks. Available at GM or ECE if you want the lowered ones.

My swaybar off the 3/4 ton is 1 1/4 and it was free, instead of paying for some over priced aftermarket one.

Im courious, what rear end did you use? You said you were going 5 lug. Just wundering what the axle came out of. By the way, you know when you are a true mechanic when you use a cutting torch while wearing sandles and shorts. I sure wish those blisters would heal.

Thanks Tx Firefighter!!! I can get one from a 77 chevy with brackets for 29.00 + 1.00 core charge. It is off a c20 and I think its a camper special, not sure, but I also think it's 1 1/4. Thanks again!!!
