Window regulators

Are the rear door window regulators the same as the front door regulators? Thanks,

That suxs. I'm changing my 69 burb to 72 style door panels and were hoping they were the same as you can buy new front door regulators...

The rear ones in mine had very little wear on the shafts and gear sets so I just replaced the rollers and lubed them up. Now they work like butter. Maybe you can get lucky too. Replacing the rollers was easy, but it was a two person job. I went with repops on the fronts as they were plain wore out.

If he changes to the '72 door panels like he mentions I don't think the handle shafts on the regulators will be long enough. I'm not 100% sure on the Suburbans but I know the pickup's won't work.....

I ended up removing the pivot arm from a set of 72 front door regulators that I had, and installing them in my 67-71 rear door regulators and they work great!

I took a punch the same diameter as the head of the rivet and clamped it in a vice. (See photo). I found a roll pin punch (2nd photo) that was about the same size as the small end of the rivet. After marking the regulator (so I knew what side each roller went on) I inserted the rivet through the roller and the regulator arm and had a helper position the arm with the head of the rivet on the end of the punch in the vice. While it was being held there I mushroomed the smaller end of the rivet with the roll pin punch. The spherical shape of the roll pin punch expanded the rivet in the hole so it doesn't turn or wiggle. If this isn't clear I can get someone to help and get picture. It sounds complicated, but it went quick as it only took 3 or 4 whacks on each rivet to attach the roller.

Thanks for the step by step. I forgot that I had purchased this rivet press a long time ago when I redid a set of vent window seals. I think it might do the trick. I'll let you know how it comes out. Thanks again for all of your help!

LOL, I'll get some tomorrow. It looks like PRP sent me the wrong window divider felt for the rear doors. I got 1110-60, instead of the 1111-60. So I'll have to wait until I get the right ones to finish the rear windows. What color did you paint the metal part on the center divider? I'm thinking about painting my gloss black since my windows are tinted.

I went with gloss black and masked off the chrome bead. The PO had painted them purple so that had to go. I mocked one side up with some white tape but, it was too much contrast with the window tint so black it was. And it wasn't until I after i got rid of the color on the divider did I realize how much I didn't like it. The other thing l learned was not to use paint & primer in one products. I used some at first but I soon found out that kind of paint is not very durable. I painted one side and left it to dry for five days then flipped them over and carefully placed the dividers on some wood half rounds and painted the other side and let it dry two days and when I flipped them back you could see that the paint had dented where it sat on the half round. As I sanded them down it dawned on me how easy the paint would scratch. I then just went ahead and stripped it all off and started over with some straight enamel paint and baked it under a heat lamp.
I too got the wrong divider felt the first try. There seems to be a bit of a disconnect in the marketplace as Precision Rubber doesn't actually list the divider rubber even though they make it.
