Re: Suffix number help

The CDF suffix comes up as a 1985 small block 305. No CDF suffix for a big block according to that web site.

Re: Suffix number help

That's a prefix code. Suffix code will be three letters on the tail-end. What did the truck come with originally, a 402 or a 350?

Re: Suffix number help

CDF132739 is the partial VIN from the vehicle the engine came out of. Check to the left to see if you can find the Engine ID number. That is what will have the suffix code that will tell what the engine is and what it came out of, as well as other related info. Your partial VIN decodes as
C = Chevrolet
D = 1983
F = Flint assembly plant
132739 = unique serial number, Vehicle #32,739

Re: Suffix number help

Find your casting number and narrow it down even further.
There's some pics in here for their locations.

That's not a suffix code, that's a prefix code. Where did that number come from on the engine?

That's just the engine family it fits, not an indication of the engine displacement. But it does confirm it's a big block. But we knew that from the pictures...

You're looking for something like TO42TTBG
