Got a question for you more experienced folks. I'm building my first truck. It's a '53 five window. I've been planning to use a crate motor. Maybe a ZZ4. This afternoon I stumbled on a 215 aluminum block V8. Brand new build by Mondello in CA. Balanced, blueprinted, ported, polished, 11:1's. Maybe not much torque, but it looks way cool. What do you guys think? If it doesn't make sense, I will sell the thing. I've got the origional build sheet. Lookslike about 4k+ into it. $3500.00+ship. I will deliver in western Wa.

216 I believe was a straight six.....should have been stock in your rig...

Misprint maybe...?

Yup, got two of those. This is a mid/late 90's (I think) aluminum block V8 out of an Olds Aurora (I think). Motor is about 40 miles away, and I didn't have a camera. Will try and post a pic.

Hey BiggerMike,
This being your first project truck I would stick with a small chevy for it. It's been done a million times and been proven. You can always change the engine later on. A lot of people overlook a great engine from the factory. Get the 250 hp 350 from them...It's goes for around 1300.00. Keep it simple on your first one and enjoy it. If you want to make upgrades to it...update the brakes and suspenion. I built enough trucks to know...You have to put a plan together...Then stick to it when building something. That's why you find a lot of half finished projects for sale...to many changes as people go along and the cost adds up. Hope this will help in your thought process...Joe

Buick had an aluminum 215 V8 in the late 60's early 70's also.

I didn't know that. Thanks. Do you happen to know what tranny will work with it? Turbo 350/400?
