Strange enough questions

My brother just bought a 73 gmc built in Fremont
The vin numbers are 4115 numbers apart from my 73
I'm curious as to how far apart they came off the line. The googler says a thousand+ a day but I'm sure the plant had several lines running every day.
The spid is missing as well.

Re: Strange enough questions

Hard to say.

Most plants did not build in VIN order (although Fremont did); also sometimes there are several vehicle nameplates going down the same line (Chevrolet, Olds, Pontiac, GMC) with separate VIN sequences.

What you really want to know is the General Assembly sequence number but that unfortunately is not recorded for posterity. No one pays any attention to the VIN in the assembly plant, other than to get it installed on the right truck (just like a tuneup label or Mulroney window sticker).
