1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

We just received another one of these projects last Thursday. It sat at another shop for 3 months, untouched! He brought it to us on Thursday, we started on it Monday and here it is as of the end of the week. I won't get much done on it till after SEMA, but we wanted to get it torn down and get parts ordered. Speaking of ordering parts.. here's the short list of goodies going on this build:
Lots of new parts from LMC Truck, Roadster Shop REVO chassis, Turnkey Engine Supply 500hp LS3 and 4L65E trans, Baer 6 piston brakes, 20" and 22" Intro Designs wheels, Ridetech coil over shocks, and many more.
I have a good budget for this truck, but a very tight timeline. It is supposed to be done by the end of January. I did not promise that to my customer, but I will do all I can to meet it.
Here's some photos.

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

This is my customers Dad's truck so he wanted to keep everything we won't be using. SO we decided to store it at the local storage place till he comes back with a two car trailer to take it all home to NM.

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

The previous modifications were made by his Dad, back in the 70's, which makes them easy to remove, lol. Drill out some rivets and cut off the brass. The chassis is about 2 months out, so we will start with the rust repair and body work.

I have no idea what the other shop's deal was, nor do I care. I treat my customers how I'd want to be treated. I don't take in jobs unless I'm ready to work on them. So I'll never run into an issue like they did. I just hope he gets his deposit back from that shop.

Rust repair under way.

Bye bye gas filler

Fixing rust on the doors

We paint the insides before the final piece goes on to prevent future rust

The dash is going to be fun.

The hood seam and emblems holes are also going to be gone.

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

So, I'm way behind on updating this thread....
Here goes:
The chassis from Roadster Shop showed up

We got right to work installing the RideTech coilovers and Baer Brakes, before mounting up the Intro Wheels.

We were spending time getting the door gaps dialed in before it goes on the chassis

Then the cab was mounted up to the new chassis so we could build a new firewall

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

The intake tube is one for a 2000 tahoe. We cut a hole in the inner fender and located the K&N filter in the wheel well.

All the other sheet metal parts were also mocked up so we could finalize everything before paint and powdercoat.

The exhaust needed to be tacked in place temporally so we could get the body back to the painter as soon as possible.

You can just barely see the exhaust tips peaking out below the rear bumper.

Bedside tubs needed to be made for clearance of the 22x10 wheels.

The bed floor was also raised at this point

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

Last thing we did before the truck headed back to the paint shop was mount all the under dash stuff. A/C, ECUs, Fuse blocks, relays, Dakota Digital controller, gas pedal, etc. were all mounted

Then it was off to paint...

For paint, we decided to go with green. Originally the truck was going to be a black and silver two tone, but since this is for his dad and the truck was originally green I talked him into respraying the truck green. The color is a custom tri coat color from Fashion Paint.

I also made a matching tailgate skin that matches the bead rolled firewall

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

After all the gaps were dialed in with the cab bolted to the chassis, the truck was blown back apart. While the body panels are getting final blocking and paint, we got busy finishing up the chassis.
The exhaust was built out of 3" stainless steel tubing.

We planned out running wires and fuel lines through the frame rails

You'll also notice we built a gas tank to fit between the Black Widow mufflers.
Then the chassis was blown apart for powder coat

Re: 1951 3100 by Tre 5 Customs

The parts were dropped off at 10am Monday morning, and I got them back Wednesday at noon. Pretty good service I'd say.

I decided to go with a black/ copper vein on the chassis and a high gloss black on the suspension parts.
I got right to work assembling the chassis components.

While all that was happening, IKandy Paintworks was busy laying down the color after a few more prime and block sessions.

They got the cab color sanded and buffed first so I could get started on plumbing and wiring.

Steve from Elevated Design came down to the shop to wrap the dash and area around the back window in material that was sent with the seats from TMI Products.

Speaking of seats, here they are. I'll have to build custom mounts for them and there will be a center console flowing from under the dash, between the seats, and all the way to the rear wall.
