Rare truck on craigslist?

Did they ever produce a truck like this one from the factory? http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/4976218407.html

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

to answer your question no they never made a truck like that. its either a C/30 with a longhorn bed or someone modified a C/20. if the vin plate says it a 20 its been modified.
If you go look at it check the bed if it's a longhorn you'll be able to tell. just from the one pic its hard to tell but I'll bet it's a 1 ton with a longhorn bed, if it has a regular bed on it check the frame to see if its been shortened, any way you slice it it's NOT a rare truck. Coop

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

From the pic it looks like a non longhorn bed but it's hard to tell for sure. I'd bet someone put this truck together as well. It looks to be nice from that distance.

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

LOL for a dollar, this guy thinks he has a "RARE" truck he states he "knows what it's worth" I wish a board member would go look at it and talk to the guy, just curious.
I've seen several adds like this, someone who watches those "rags to riches" car show's on TV, and most of em aren't really car guys, they like em but they don't know much, they run across something like this and BAM there gonna make a bunch of money off of it. this guy probably bought it from someone who fed him full of BS on how rare it is and he fell for it, bought it (probably for about what its actually worth) and all of a sudden he's a expert on these trucks and gonna make a bundle.....
It really amuses me sometimes, what people "think" these trucks are worth. or they think a fully restored, high option truck is worth $1500

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

I call BS on that one Les. First of all, if the seller knows what he has, he would have taken a photo of the SPID. Second never seen before option is the Muncie 4 speed.

A dually truck from the factory would not have come with coils in the rear, not even in 1969. What does "fancy interior" mean?

" it is one of the only ones like it around i garentee. " I garentee it too, because it was not produced this way from the factory.

Of course now that I state my fact, someone will prove me wrong

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

I always assume no price listed = more than its worth. That said, I still don't understand not posting a price. You have to have a lot of free time to deal with all the calls just asking how much and hoping you can convince someone your high price is worth it.

I was thinking the same thing. At worst, you get a lot of parts for $1.

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

While the truck is clearly not a factory build the chassis could very well be. Chevrolet did offer in 69 on C20 chassis cabs the option of dual rear wheels on coil or optional leaf springs. These were a 127" wheelbase chassis intended for campers for the most part.
It would be an easy matter then as we have seen on countless other trucks to simply widen the inner wheelhousings to clear the dual tires and mount an 8' bed on an otherwise stock truck and make it a C/20 dually pickup.

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

Chevrolet DID build a dually C20 with coil rear springs. I can't speak to the fleetside, but I know the flatbed was available from the factory.

Re: Rare truck on craigslist?

What makes it more rare is the interior and the wheels. What all is included in the "fancy" interior package? Was it Cragar or Keystone that produced the Oroginal wheels?
