"A Few 72's" in Alabama

I signed in to the board almost two months a go, but never did a "first post" kind of thing. I did not have the camera when I first signed on, and it looks like it is a requirement post pictures of your own, so just held off, on the "first post". I have meet a few of you at the Memphis SCS and few more at the Truck Nat's in Pigeon Forge a few weeks ago. Had fun at both and enjoyed meeting all that were present. I posted several pictures from both shows but never got the time to post my own. I am in north Alabama, almost right between Birmingham and Huntsville Alabama. I have "A Few 72's" as the login suggest, and a few others as you will see. Tried to take a few quick photos of most, no real detail shots except for the ones that had the glove box sheet in place, tells more & easier than typing. A few are sitting in waiting, a few drove off and on, and one main daily driver.

Will start with my "Daily Driver". 1972 Chevy 1/2 ton 350 / T400. Truck had a step side, but had some damage where I got hit. Current bed is from a 67 SWB that I sold to a friend, after a swap of beds. No glove box sticker but had a few options based on the wood grain dash bezel & cab light. These are some of the first photos I took with the camera on the way back from around Jackson Tn, where I got a Blazer top from board member luv2xclr8. A few of you also seen the truck when I drove it to Pigeon Forge show.

Next is a 72 SWB GMC 350/T350, Truck was bought with the damage to the front where the driver hit a tree. We pounded on the inter fender some and drove it on the trailer to get it home. I pulled the grill and then used a come-a-long to get to where it is now. Have a radiator just about ready to go in it. Should know a little more then, but the lady told me see was driving it on a daily basis and the air did work. Has a late model seat, camper did not come with it, came from a auction for $5, and truck looked like a good place to put it for now.

Next is a 72 Cheyenne 20 super "long horn". 402BB / T400. Backed it out from the carport to take these. Came with and has almost most every thing but air/tilt/tach. I'm officially the 2nd owner of this one. Went from previous owner to his daughter, but was never titled to her. I drive some, but with gas prices, not lately. Got new arm rest and dash pad from Tim Christian, but have not had time to install. Will take a few interior pics later.

Next is a 72 sub. Deluxe 350 / T350, front & rear air. Truck was originally used for Mt Cheaha state park, thus the Spot light. Still has the state number in the back glass. Got it from the friend that I posted pic's of his blazer. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=103777
Drive a little in the yard, when moving to mow, but held off from putting on the road due to one more insurance bill.

Think this makes 5. I got the long one, so you should have guessed I would have the short one...
1972 Blazer. Glove box label is missing, but it does have the CST emblem on the glove box, and the deluxe marker lights. Was a 4 wheel converted to 2 wheel. PO did the swap, but I wanted a 2 wheel drive, so I got it. Have had for about 9 years, & has set the last 6 or 7 due to a spun rod or main bearing. I had bought the Long Horn with intentions of using the BB in the Blazer, but could not bring myself to do it, so this one is still waiting. Current thoughts are the motor trans from my daily driver or from the GMC.

# 6 is a 72 LWB Deluxe that I got several years ago less motor. 3 speed still in place. Got it mainly if I wanted the disk brake setup for my 70 LWB, but have left it intact, just in case I need to have as a driver. Air cab, but without the air setup. PO changed to a standard heater setup.

Next is another 72 sub. It's pretty stripped, but I have most or all of the parts, including the tilt, because I stripped it for parts before I knew I was going to get the whole thing. Came from the same guy I got the other 72 sub from, only about 6 months to a year later.

Ok I know it's not a 72 but it does have the running gear from the 72 parts sub, including the power brake setup. The Panel as few bullet holes in the front and standard rust in the rockers / floor / back corners, but is pretty straight down the body sides. Got as a package deal with the remainder of the parts sub. Body is a 68, but have not decided as to go with the 71/72 front clip or 67/68 style.

Guess I need to do them all at this point.
Trailer is from a 68-70 LWB GMC based on the tailgate and the 6 lug wheels. PO had the Chevy stickers on the side, but I still think it is a GMC. No other details other than it is still holding the 71 DW blazer top. Back hatch is for my blazer, and I may 1/2 top the rest due to the damage / or send to a good fiberglass person. (extra C metal is because I did not want to drill holes in my trailer bed sides.)

This is a picture of a picture of my 1970 custom 10. LWB 350/350 / air / Posi / leaf rear. Has been sitting inside a barn for the last several years & covered with dust, so no current pic at this time. Not my first truck, but my first Chevy truck. Got it Jan of 86, so I've been around this body style for a while.

Might as well finish up this post like I did the show posts with a car pic. Car is sitting in front of the 70 in the same barn, so this is also a photo of a photo of the 50 Chevy that I also have. org 6 cy / 3 speed / 6 volt system. Needs brakes / tune up / interior recovered.

Thanks for the complements.
Now if I could quit adding to the collection I would have more time and money to spend on the ones I have.

The car is a 1950 Deluxe Fleetline (roof line flows in to the truck, also called "Fastback"). Chevy also made a Styleline that roof line did a drop at the window, like the 54 body style. I like the Fastback style better, and you see fewer of them.

72c203503onthetree. I do make it to Guntersville from time to time, will have to meet and compare C20's some time.

Shane and his wife are both a first class couple I got behind at the Pigeon Forge show and they jumped right in to help me and Deland out. Not only that my kids are crazy about them. That is what I Love about this board is the people!!!!!!!

Tim, Just don't let the kids see to many of these pictures, or they will have me a long list of "you know you want it" items for my trucks.
We were both glad to help out and enjoyed it, and would do it again. Have been dating for a few years, but not married.

Right now my truck is torn apart, I am putting a cam, Performer RPM intake, Carter carb and other stuff on it. I am doing it outside so I have to dodge the rain we are having. All I really need is some good heads, was looking for some 2.02 heads but havent had any luck. I found some good deals on e bay for Dart heads but dont have quite enough money to get them. Hopefully in a week I will have it running and we could meet then.
