How would you build this?

It's been awhile since I've interacted on here. With a busy schedule, I havnt been able to do much on my truck so I'm just doing a lot of planning and thinking right now.

So I thought it would be fun to get your guys and gals opinions on my truck. I have a 1972 GMC C20. No matter what, this truck is a work truck. But having a family and being busy, it's my only toy. I want to be able to pull any trailer I need, and be able to burn the tires off and surprise some of hotrods around here.

So how would you build that truck? How would you achieve those goals? I want to hear everybody's opinions and see what everybody would come up with. Any detail you would do or change, any drivetrain combo, even paint colors.

Re: How would you build this?

First off, from your description, you want TORQUE, so forget everything you've ever read about horsepower, because most of it won't apply.

I'd put a 4L80E transmission and an HT502 (truck torquey version of the GM 502 crate motor) in it. And add posi or a locker with 4.10 gears (this assume the overdrive in the trans).

It'd tow anything you want, be quite snappy zero to sixty as well, and surprise a lot of cars.

You didn't say what your budget was though. I was just looking at T4 turbochargers and BMW V12 takeout motors... that'd be fun too :-)

Re: How would you build this?

I like the way you think. Your on the right track with wanting.high torque. I'm a family man so not much budget but if I want that, just wait longer and I could get there. I'm not worried about budget in this post though. Just want to hear everybody's ideas
