Colin, welcome to the forum. What are your plans as far as horse power, what kind of funds do you have to start with, and do you have any of the parts, like an engine, to start with? There are a lot of options on what a guy can do to these old trucks.

my first piece of advice... dont look at dieselwrencher's or my threads... hahaha

but i agree with Ryan. you can do it 1000 different ways. it all depends on your goals and your wallet/ability. what are you looking for out of the truck? what kind of budget and tools do you have access to? the most important thing in my opinion is to not hack it together. make something that you wont feel like you have to fix, or dont do stuff with the idea of "ill make it better later" that just leads to a project you arent fully pleased with. that applies to the most basic of swaps all the way to the most extreme.
