Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?

First one now belongs to another board member, but i always pictured it slammed on steelies ----- 2nd one is my current driver -- its not rusty, but has some serious patina issues developing on the hood -- i would love to mod it to mimic some of the trucks shown already (the HotRod City truck is boss)

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?

I was doing some googling on "patina" last night and it seems you can use a metallic paint and then use an acid to chemically oxidize (rust) that. Anyone heard of this or done it? It would allow you to do all the body work and the rust would only be in the metallic paint and not in the actual sheetmetal.

Anyone know any details on the Hot Rod City truck? I love the wheel size and stance. Just knowing the wheel size would make me happy .

FYI metalic paint has no rustable metal in it..
it's alum or fish scale

Alvin, are you keeping that thing on a leash or what? That last pic looks like you don't want it straying to far from home.
I don't blame you either, Ethel is one of my favorites on here.

Yeah, it's a leash of sorts. It gets a little rowdy from time to time .

I can't wait for the day I can finally take that thing off!

And thanks, I'm really glad you like it. I'm going to try to channel that into some motivation to get 'er done.. okay?

I agree! I love that truck! Something about that baby blue and white just looks awesome to me. My '69 beater truck came that color and I have been sure thinking about putting it back. I have also toyed around with leaving it as is with a shop logo. I'm just not sure yet!

I just realized I never posted updated pics of my truck with door logos on this thread. I posted a how-I-done-it thread, but I never made it back to this one for some reason.

Here's a few pics and the redneck door painting 101 thread!

Is that the big block truck that was out of North Carolina? The one that was for sale awhile ago? I love that truck.

You must mean Alvin's because mine is a 6 banger from Georgia. It was for sale on the board recently.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks?

See Ten linked the thread earlier that tells about how I came by this truck so now I'll tell you the rest of the story. After waiting so long to get it and seeing how rough it was I just parked it and figured on parting it. After a little encouragement from Luv, Bryan, and Asa I'm thinking why not. So going to go through the brakes, get it running and driving, drop it a little, and throw on some 20's that I bought for another project and roll in it. That's one of the good things about being my age, you can get away with doing stupid stuff and it gets dismissed as just being part of the old man syndrome.

If it don't go over to good I can just park it back out in the field and forget it ever happened.

patina, surface rust, and dents. but I love her all the same! selling the rallyes soon. I just picked up (5) 15 x8 steelies. Having them powdercoated white with some 52 Chevy caps. (Thanks lolife99 and 67-C-30)

That truck is WAY too pretty to be considered a patina truck IMO! Those steelies are gonna look great on there. I'm taking mine to have them blasted tomorrow and I am going to paint mine white.
