Re: Who likes cab lights??

They seal just fine without the raised pads. The same lights were mounted on 73-91 trucks on that contour with no problems. If concerned, dab some quality caulk on the holes before running the screws in.It would take a hard look rom a knowledgeable 69-72 fanatic to even notice if they were factory or not. Can`t say that about any other cab light. The only pictures I have are on work trucks with ladder racks, big mirrors, and all that truck stuff.Nthing off a factory-looking truck with cab lights.

Thanks for all the replys I think the one tons have to have them, and I'm about 50/50 on the 3/4 and the 4x4s.I never really thought about the damage and rust issues to the cab.Maybe I'll buy a set and just set them up there for pictures then decide.keep the comments coming Thanks Mike

Re: Who likes cab lights??

I kinda like them and agree they do look better on the one tons and larger 4X4's. I am thinking about putting them on my SWB 4X4 and thought about the rust issues. I pulled a set off a mid 1970's that sat in the JY for awhile and did not see any rust. I guess if they were sealed good enough.

Not trying to hijack, but since were on the subjuct of roof markers. Has anyone seen them on a slightly lifted (2"-4") SWB 4X4 or have opinions on weather it would look right or not.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

I gotta vote no. I'm about 60/40 with the 60 being no but the 40 meaning I do kinda like 'em on the bigger trucks and for saftey reasons....Overall tho, I like the "clean" look better. My .02

Re: Who likes cab lights??

I prefer the raised mount type personally. Last year I saw an oxidized Orange Shortbed 4x4 at the Pamona Swapmeet with that type of cab and it looked so cool with the 4" lift. I'm with special-K, in the fact that I think they look better on a K-20 though. Yours would look pretty cool with them. If you cant do it, maybe someone here will photo shop it for you.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

the amber round ones were original for 69 and 70 only. They went to a similar styale from 71 - 93 (and on some new Kenworths too)
The clear ones was a discovory i found when a truck came in needing a back up lens at work. Turns out it is also the same as the back up lens for 67 - 72 step sides.
Run to NAPA, and ask for p/n 680-2432 ... should be less than $5 each for the lens only.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

They became required on trucks over 10,000# GVW.It`s an ICC thing. So any one ton produced after`68(?) had them.Same as with width.I`m not sure how it`s worded, but dual rear trucks,or any truck with a body that`s wider than the cab is required to have lights marking the width.Same as a high body,it`s required to have lights. That`s why they`re called "clearance lamps".
