Re: Who likes cab lights??

I'm not 100% on the 10k GVW, but that sure does sound about right.
I know all DRW, and all cab/chassis trucks, and I'm sure there's other criteria for it added these days too.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Andy,I think we`re saying the same thing anyway. The single wheel 1t trucks are rated like 9,200# and the dual wheel are at 10,000#.But,you can register either higher.

I`ll solve this quandry. How about I put cab lights on my blue & white K/20 then you decide?(problem is,the guy that gave me 1/2 the money might not like them.
Actually,I know he said he likes them. But,it`s his turn now.Right?

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Tim I hate that you have to sell that truck,I've been secretly trying to figure out a way to get it.But unfortunatly I'm in the construction business and just got through with a divorce so I'm not in the best shape as far as cash flow goes, but I know it will turn around for the better.I sure the new owner will enjoy it more than I ever could because I have to many already

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Cab lights look good on 3/4Ts & 4x4s, but.................If you are going to do it------do it right! Do the extra work and put them on with the "correct" raised hockey puck roof. Like it is supposed to be.

They came on GMCs too. I hated to let this one go$$$

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Frank,I'm usually a weirdo about stuff like this being just right, but you see so many of these trucks with the lights added to a flat roof it does'nt seem to bother me as much as it used to ??? have you heard anything from PUI about the cover? Thanks Mike

Re: Who likes cab lights??

I am too.I even bought a cab light a/c high-hump from BillsBowtie(800 mile round trip). But,I`ve put them on a truck without them and it`s no big deal.Matter of fact,it`s such a "no big deal" that GM figured it wasn`t necessary on the`73-ups.I figure it`s already a body swap.I mean, just because it`s a generally stock looking truck, how is it different than guys doing other alterations we like to see on customized-looking trucks?

Mike,I bet we have alot more than body-swapped medium blue & white K/20s,being contractors, slow work, and divorce in common. If I kept the truck it would have gotten the OEM-style 9.75x16.5s w/hubcaps I have. The guy that`s buying it will follow through with the same plan and I`ll still see it.He`s a friend.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Funny, I've been told that this style light belongs there on 71/72 and maybe up trucks. These look sort of natural and the wire, although not connected at first, looks right. It may have been tan, but I could be thinking of the gas gauge wire since that sounds more correct.

The lettering on the lenses looks suspect too...

A ruling or opinions?

Good idea,I`d like to have that for my own pleasure.But....I only have three lenses,I think.

Here`s a story that erks me.I sold my gold`70 CustomCamper/30 to this neighbor as a cab`n`chassis. He was going to make a car hauler from it.He had the ramp bed and even a Caddy 500 from another year GM truck. This guy is a nut case.He is retired (mail carrier) and sells mostly old GM truck parts from parting trucks. He thinks he`s an expert, but really knows jack.I`m no expert but whenever I tell him what I know I know he doesn`t listen.
Well, next thing I know he has the top cut off the cab and is scrapping the rest!I hated letting that cab light cab go and hesitated selling the truck forever. His dog had died and he had this idea to make a canopy over "Bowtie`s" grave and hook up the lights :crazy".I asked him why he cut it up and he said,"That thing was shot".Well,I don`t consider a cab with all original sheetmetal/no repairs that only needs outer rockers "shot".I had replaced all the cab light pieces with N.O.S. when I restored the truck. He had that thing perched on top of a sea-tainer and I`d drive by everyday for a few years and look at thing and wish he`d sell it to me.But,he wouldn`t.He`s going to build that sentimental canopy, right?
A month or more ago we had that mini tornado come through and it flipped that thing off the sea-tainer,busted all the lenses, and bashed up the top.So he had scrapped it.Here`s a guy that sells parts and he threw out the dang rubber base seals!!!!I could tell you some dipzit stories about this guy...ARGH!!!

Re: Who likes cab lights??

I like em, but then again, I like lights period. My Bikes have LED accent lights, not overdone, just enough to reflect off of the chrome. One of my favorite cars had mud guards in back of wide wheels, I had lights mounted on the guards, red on the back flaps and yellow on the front. Got a lot of compliments on it. Besides, the drilled holes for cab lights are pretty small, would not be hard to fill.

Re: Who likes cab lights??

Cab lights are good on trucks that flex.

I'm just about sick of hockey pucks, took out the ice sheet and I'm now unemployed. At least I don't have to hear any more pucks hit plexi! Now if I had a cab to play with at the rink, I would never leave!
