Is my unique 72 welcome here?

Posted this over in the welcome area, but wanted to make a post in the area I'll be hangin out in most of the time...

Not sure if I have an appropriate vehicle, but it is a 1972 Chevy, take a look...

It's a daily driver when I want it to be. I drive it as much as I can. I'll be taking it to the GM show in Carlisle, PA tomorrow.

I've been a ford guy up until I got this beast, and now I've been cheating on the Fords, I have 4 Fords in the garage, more often with this Chevy...shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell ok?

Details on the truck:

1972 Chevy P10 Step-Van

Inline 6 250 but 292 ready to be rebuilt and tweaked sitting on the floor, 350 won't fit easily :-(

AirRide on all 4 corners

Recent rear upgrade to 3.42 Ring and Pinion for better highway driving with my 3 speed on the tree, but a 700R4 is also on the garage floor waiting to be freshened up and installed. I also put an Auburn Posi in the rear while I had it opened.

I'm still in the "what should I do" stages so any thoughts and ideas are welcome.

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?

sweet ---- i would install a checkerboard floor and tie down rings, some flip down workstations, generator, add some tool storage and have the most *****en' motocross bike hauler in town

maybe a small theatre system, and a fold down bunk to chill on when i'm between motos at the races

i could have a lot of fun with a project like that !

Very sweet... yes of course it's welcome here! I like the idea of the bike hauler, too. Or maybe the most ridiculous sound system ever! NO, NO! I've got it!!! Stripper pole, a few lights, sound system, wet bar and a comfy couch in the back!!!!!

i like the stripper pole idea.
Welcome to the board, and yes, your rig is welcome here.
I generally shy away from wide whites, and red steelies... but I can't shy away from your little bread truck, that thing is SWEET!

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?

I like it. And welcome....

I'm one of the conservative old timers here. I like the stock outward look but not opposed to slapping some power where it's needed and making it nice to drive around. Looks like you have a good start on it already.

If it were mine, I would start fixing up the inside so it's nice and comfy. Nothing outrageous. An A/C comes to mind, a loungers and a small table and a cooler, rig it up for sleeping in it, etc. Lots of options there.

Good luck.

Oh, and forgot to mention,,,, F##d is a dirty word on this site to some guys. No offense, though. I think at some point we've all longed for a Mustang, a vintage T-bird or a souped up Crown Vic Maurader. I've always owned Chevys but I have a F##d Ranger that I was forced to buy...

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?

WOW! 14 replys in an hour, you folks are serious in here.

Thanks for all the welcomes and positive, so far, comments on the Step-Van

I'm not much for the motocross stuff, but I did buy this neat little scooter called the "Maddass" looks like an oversized mountain bike with a 49cc engine that's now tweaked up to 90cc

http://www.recyclescooters.com/siteb...eb-461x254.jpg

which I plan to haul to shows and events in the Step van. A generator is in the works for powering tons of computer and audio equipment and A/C. A hugh sight & sound system is a given. I'm also into the Tiki/Beach scene so there will be a Tiki/Hula theme on the interior. I wonder if I can fit a hammock in it. In any case the interior will be comfy for the events and sleeping overnight

I may keep the white paint and red wheels, but I'm considering sodablasting the white paint of and going with a brushed aluminum exterior and black wheels with black tribal flame graphics. I've seen a van with a pole...neat but the wife won't use it LOL.

And don't worry too much about the F**D thing, I have to consolidate and looks like some or all of them may be on the auction block. The Chevy is here to stay for a while.

Thanks LockDoc for the link. A body shop actually thought it would be perfect since I may leave the exterior bare Aluminum. He said sand might eat away at the aluminum if the blaster wasn't good with it. I have aircraft striper I was going to use but with all the rivets I thought I'd have lots of discoloration from it dripping out long term.

Welcome to the board.
why don't you put a freezer in it, a horn that plays "pop goes the weasle", and drive it around the neighborhood selling ice cream?
That would probably buy enough gas to be able to drive it every day.
