Re: 198Plus build

congrats on the purchase, I saw the truck a couple years ago and it is slick and it looks as though it found exactly the home it deserves so it will be finished to the standards it started at, great work.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I'll post more pictures as I get something more visible completed. I'm waiting on a part right now that has me stuck in neutral.

Re: 198Plus build

Hi guys, I thought I'd post some updated photos. Getting closer to driving down the road. Interior should be done by end of next week. Would have had side glass in but the windows sent to me were 3/8" shorter than originals. Didn't find out until we already had them sealed in the tracks of course. Told by UN-named source that they are made in China is probably why.

Any recommendations on where to get good side glass?

Also having a heck of a time finding a wiper switch bezel. I've been trying chrome jam nuts but can't quite find the right size. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys I hope everyone has had a good summer.

Re: 198Plus build

Looks great. You're a little behind on updates LOL!

I got my window glass from Brothers Trucks. Fit like a glove. But you can also go to a glass place and have some cut just for you and it's about the same price. Just pattern it off the other side.

Glad to see you post! I literally just asked Ronnie on Facebook the other day if he'd heard anything new. Truck is looking great!

Thanks much, I know I'm a little behind on updates it's been a crazy summer. Daughter off to college this year and 4 others keeping me busy. I have to work on the truck when I should be working on my business. It's a lot more fun though.

Re: 198Plus build

Might no be local enough, but we're in Anderson SC and can cut a couple door glasses. We have the equipment to polish the edges of the glass as well, no rough edges or sanding marks.

Thanks for the offer, someone told me about a place not too far from me that should be able to do it. If not I will definitely contact you.

Hi guys a couple updates. We got the steering column in, would have the steering wheel on as well but the adapter did not work. Waiting for a new one. Got the new grill on and most of the wiring completed. Started it up Friday for the first time using the ignition switch. (Sounds great) Found a few leaks and tightened those up.

A special thanks to Mark from Washington. He sent me a hard to find wiper switch bezel to put in the truck.

Re: 198Plus build

Hi there, I had a question about glass. I have the back window and some of the edges are a bit rough. (Another quality product) It is tempered glass. Is it ok to use a belt sander to smooth the edges?

Re: 198Plus build

I've tried on some tempered before. Be very careful because it explodes when to much static is applied to it...

Re: 198Plus build

Thanks Troy, I have heard the same thing. I actually used a orbital sander and got the sharp edges off. Just kept it moving so it didn't heat up too much.

Re: 198Plus build

Hi guys, well we almost have it finished. Just have to get the exhaust finished, ac charged, lots of polishing, and I'm waiting for the fuel tank sending unit to come back from being re calibrated. Took it out for a test drive the other day and wow Ronnie's engine builder did a great job. Can't wait to take it for a longer ride.

I know this is a Chevy truck forum but I had to show you what's on the lift above the truck in the other photos.

Glad to hear you're almost to the finish line! That's a beautiful truck for sure. Thanks for taking time to keep us updated on it. You gonna take a spin by Ronnie's shop & do a smokey burnout to make him regret selling it?

Wow!
The truck looks awesome!
It looks as though your progress is only slightly ahead of mine!
...By only about 5 years at the rate that I am moving!
I cannot wait to be at that stage in my build!
Great work!

Thanks very much, it helps when it had a great start to begin with. If I had to work alone I'd be on the 5 year plan. Fortunately I have a local guy that knows his stuff and works very reasonably. If nothing else he gets me motivated when I know he's coming over to help.
