Re: Big Red Dog

Work looks great! Not for nuthin, we rolled our cab up on its nose, worked well and was easy to deal with. Fixed, shot and polished the top and tipped it back up, then masked it the rest of the time. Your work is beautiful!

Thanks. I am working alone on this thing so moving it around is almost impossible so sanding over head it is.. Big block, 320 grit, face shield and let the fun begin. I I didn't want to see color on the thing so bad I would've rolled it over but firewall is already done! I really don't trust anybody to help me out so figured I'd just go at it alone.

I personally don't think that you can sand too much...Always something that you don't notice till after there is color on it.
Lookin great though!

I agree, been there I just hate sanding because I do all by hand after primers on!

Re: Big Red Dog

Looking really good Troy.

Tuesday you had the fan on and I didn't know if you'd forgotten it or what. Then it dawned on me that the humidity was on the other side of high for the Amazon Forest. Seems this week the rain has moved in.

The door looked good hanging. Almost like a truck, again.

Guys, Troy's panels & patches are beautiful. Well, if you could see them to know they are there, they would. I guess the only way to know work was done is to recognise that it looks better than it did in 1966.

Dave.

Re: Big Red Dog

Thanks Dave. Yea I had forgot you were coming by until the wind blew through the window and I seem your note.. Yea it's hard to sand and not drip on everything lately! Amazon was about what it's like right next to the Nile river!!! Whew... I was going to hang the pass door but I am going to sand it tonight possibly and then hang it. I'm beginning to come up with a plan and layout of parts so I can spray everything. Probably going to spray the jambs and inside doors and cab soon and spray some color on the backside of everything where it bolts together.. Closer and closer!!!

Thanks for the good words on the patches. I keep trying to improve every time I do some... The phrase, practice practice practice comes to mind lol.

Thanks. I did some sandin and actually wasn't too bad with the doors open since the sun wasn't blaring in on me. Still have to sand the roof inside and out and glaze a few spots then final wash then..... More to come!

Yes sir it is... Got the grill and cowl panel striped and etch primed and 2k primed just needs sanded.... Imagine that! Inside roof area done and sanded an doors are primed 100%! Taking tomorrow off to let my shoulders recoup... Coming together. Hopefully I'll get some sealer tomorrow and final sand tomorrow night and all I will have left is final wash and paint!!!

Uh, uh, great Troy. About done, kinda.

I think this is the 2 minute warning that The Big Red Dog might be coming home soon.

I imagine I'll show up with a pile of lumber, wood screws, a cordless drill and saw with a box of batteries. Oh yeah and some duct tape.

Careful of that shoulder, it'll need to be in good shape for the future.

Dave.

Re: Big Red Dog

Well idk about 2 minute warning but were getting close... If you want I have a dewalt compound mitre saw you can use if you want to build the stand here.. I think if we do that we could mount the front clip and tie the cab stand into the front radiator support.. Next thin coming in my shop is my beat up Honda!!! So no hurry!
