Re: R.I.P. Charlie Pride
I did not know he was a black man when first listening to him on the radio.. I too had a 8 track and along with other western singers and had one of him too, if I remember correctly .

Re: R.I.P. Charlie Pride
We were coming back from a cruise sitting in the airport with a long wait for the plane. Charlie Pride was also coming back from a cruise, the entertainment if I remember correctly. There wasn't much room to sit and he asked if he could sit next to us. I thought it was odd he wasn't in some special waiting area or something.
He talked with us for an hour or so. Turns out he had family in the Seattle area where we are from. Super nice fella and very accommodating to the fans that recognized him. I dunno how many autographs and pictures he sat for but ugh, I would not want that the life style of zero privacy.

Re: R.I.P. Charlie Pride
Man, this year sure has seen a lot of the good ones pass on. Sad for us but Charlie has music that will live on forever.

Re: R.I.P. Charlie Pride
He was on the recent CMA or something where they tested everyone for the virus as is the norm these days. They said he tested before the show and after the show and was negative 3 times. Then a few weeks later he died from the virus. He may have contracted it on the way home.

Was lucky enough to see Charlie Pride and Roy Clark together several years ago, great show by both.
