RFID based push start button

I use rfid technology frequently in the real world.

i really like the newer luxury cars with the push button to start. which some also uses rfid technologies.

anyone know of an aftermarket rfid push to start button that could be retro fit into a 67-72 gm truck with an lsx powertrain?

or heck even a blue tooth that wont allow truck to start unless it sees my cell phone.

Re: RFID based push start button

I'd team-up with ya on this one Ed, I really like the Idea. My metal keyring taps the dash any annoys me (and scratched my paint!). Instead of just removing the key ring, I'd rather re engineer the whole thing

These are all over the web, but I don't know how good they are.

Hackaday.com seems to have all sorts of inexpensive RFID projects. I don't have an RFID reader/Programmer, but if you do I imagine it wouldn't be too terribly hard. All it needs to do is trigger a relay, just not sure how the whole "try till it starts" thing that the real ones do works.

They added one on Mighty Car Mods in an episode I believe.

Let me know, I'd consider the idea in a couple projects.

Re: RFID based push start button

I can develop it and design one using off the shelf parts. But my guess there is one available...

I know Mercedes and one of the jap imports uses RFID and the push button.

Let me know if you want me to put one together with off the shelf parts from the local alarm distributor.

Great find if it works as advertised.

Up to you, but if the price is reasonable, and you want to put a few together at 1 time, I'd take one from ya.
