K5 full replacement tub

Hey everyone, just caught on a group feed rumors of a full replacement tub that has been in the works apparently for quite some time, does anyone have any info on this?
Thanks.

And if this is the 300th post about this, my apologies.

I'm pretty sure they remake like 95% of the panels already..minus the windshield frame and maybe the dash? So all they gotta do it put em all together...

It isn't cheap. I went this route on my 72 2wd Blazer

And replaced the entire back half of the tub on my 71 4wd Blazer

That looks pretty good. At least it’s an option even if it’s expensive.

While it's great that these parts are available to keep our trucks going, the last thing I want to see is a bunch of aftermarket Blazers/Jimmys running around. The reason I like these trucks so much is that you rarely see one. I hope these don't become another belly button truck like the Broncos where everyone has one. another problem is the value of the originals will plummet. This happened to the pony cars.

Re: K5 full replacement tub

I was at a local restoration shop a few weeks ago. There was a 69 Camaro there assembled entirely of aftermarket parts. I was surprised to learn that one could assemble an entire new Camaro. Maybe easier to manufacture with a unibody design?

Re: K5 full replacement tub

I think as long as you have a real vin number to transfer over with a matching title and frame, values should not be effected. Some of these newer Rebodies have a new vin assigned by the local motor vehicle commission. Those vehicles will not have the same value. They may even be titled the year the body was manufactured. State dependent. Broncos have been rebodied for years with no adverse effects to value as long as they are steel and not fiberglass.
