60 windshield install

Installing the windshield. I’ve read many posts and I thank everyone who took the time to do so. I’m ready to do this. Only issue I have is I can’t for the life of me to figure out which is the pinch weld grove which is the inside which is for the glass. I’m pretty intuitive and I have yet to see some one point it out. Like what the hell am I a dummy. I don’t have the chrome trim. Just need to make sure I have gasket on right before the install. Thanks for yer help yall

Thin side to inside cab? The impossibly hard to put in grove on the glass?

I installed one in my 61 last fall but with chrome trim. If i remember correctly the side your holding open goes to the pinch weld

Took 1.5 hours and it was tough going. The seal wants to bunch up on the outside when we noticed that and pulled out the seal things just set right in with out too much issue. Top first, more like sides first but she worked out good.

Thats really good ! I bought the glass up here for the wifes 61 and no windshield shops would touch it as far as installation goes. I couldnt believe it . Me and a buddy had it in within a hour. The sides were the toughest part

Re: 60 windshield install

I would love to see video of the factory installing these. Certainly they had some fixtures but it was ultimately 2 or maybe even 4 people doing it. Even if it took 2, 3, or 4 stations that would only have been 2, 3, or 4 minutes.

I remember watching 4 guys in a Cadillac plant installing vinyl tops. In three stations they sprayed glue on the steel top, took a LARGE rectangular sheet of vinyl, stuck it to the steel (with the seams straight & no bubbles), pressed it all down, and trimmed around all the edges. In under 3 minutes. I couldn't believe it. Had to wait for the next vinyl top car to come by to see it again. And then again because I still didn't believe it.
