Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

How much difference between the Camaro and the Impala caliper? Want to get a set of these, assuming still making them? Also would these work for newer trucks? I have a 98 Tahoe 2wd.

I fabricate all of my products everyday. This is one way I attempt to make a living. These will not work on the '88+ 10 bolt.

How much of a difference is there between those axles? I wouldn't think much, but don't have either of the other ones in front of me...

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

There is enough of a difference they won't work. The backing plate bolt pattern is completely different, the backing plate register is larger and the brake offset is wider. And then to complicate it even more, there are 10 bolts with the 10" brakes and 10 bolts with the 11" brakes. All of the above are different again. This is why in post #1 of all of my rear disc conversion brackets, the '88-'98 10 bolts are not listed.

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

Due to an increase in the cost of having my parts laser cut, I have been forced to raise my prices. I'm not making any more money, just trying to stay in business with these increases in my costs. Thanks for understanding.

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

Found a fantastic deal on a set of calipers that are complete with bracket and dampner on amazon. Under 100 dollars at time I am posting. I ordered my set and they look great.

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

I got around to installing my brackets last night. The parts fit great. Has anyone had an issue of the calipers not being able to hold the rear wheels with your foot on the brake? I noticed the truck lost significant braking power, so I jacked up the rear end and the calipers grab and release with the pedal fully depressed. I started doing some research and it seems these calipers have given some Z28 owners fits. I could not find a resolution online. I’m going to see if I can adjust the Allen for the parking brake to see if this helps. I didnt know if anyone else here has had this same issue.

Good price! Can you confirm they include the E-brake brackets and dampener? Photos looks like they do, but you never know about their photo accuracy.

I decided to order these calipers from Callahan, they do include the bracket and 'dampener.' Will be awhile before I install, but they look good. The dampener is quite large... bigger than it looks in the photo...

NOOB Question: What is that "Dampener" for?

This is my first Chevy and I'm still learning.....A LOT.

All I know is that it's called a "vibration dampener."

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

Hey, I’m interested in a set of these, though I’ve currently got a 69 12 bolt with 6lug drums. I’m going to swap out the axles with 5 Luger mosers, would these work with that set up? Then just to find calipers and discs if they do.

Thanks
Alex

Yep. Make sure you check all the bearings and seals. I just did the same thing on my 67 GMC. I bought Moser axles from summit. The caliper and rotor combo all depends on whether you are doing an e-brake or not. I bought a new brake booster/ master/ prop setup when I converted. Mine works awesome.

Awesome thank you! Appreciate the information.

Re: Camaro Caliper Brackets

These Camaro caliper brackets use a caliper that has a built in e-brake. There is no other option with these brackets.

For all you folks that have installed this kit, did you try it with and without the dampener? Wondering if it's critical to the braking performance?

Thx,
Roy
