I thought I would throw some more picture up on frame repair where the body mount bolts go though. The picture of the piece laying on graph paper is what the hole looked like when I started. Each of those squares is 1/4". The last picture is the two crossmembers standing next to each other, not sure if you can see light around the mount holes or not from that angle.

I like it too but my daughter likes the short ones better. Being its her truck I guess I have to with her choice. There have been a few things that have sidetracked this project for a bit. One the rear axle in my 63 blew up and needed an overhaul. Two the son inlaws 2000 truck broke a leaf spring and took out a brake line. Three the same truck lost a driver door window. Four daughters friend blew up the transmission in her Civic and wants me to fix it. At least two of the four are done now. Still have to get the other two done.

One thing at a time, there`s always tomorrow. I look at it this way, no one never has the time to do something, they just don`t want to be doing it right now or they would push aside everything else to accomplish the task.

I thought I would throw a picture of the rebuilt rear axle for the 63 GMC that has been part of the delay in getting back to the BroncoII project.

Just a quick update but no pictures. I managed to do something on the Bronco today. I have the top half of the gas tank painted with Eastwood rust encapislator. I also tacked the filler panel for the passenger side door handle. I still have to finish welding that then make and weld the lock hole filler. Then fill all 8 mirror mounting holes. Then I am going to do some custom touches for the bumpers. I want to make them fit the body a bit better and plug weld the bolts in so they look smoother and paint them body color.

It has been a while since I have posted anything on this project. The truck had some road worthy issues that had to get sorted out.

So I have both doors finished now with all the welding and filling. Sanding is nearly done then cleaning and the high-build will go on first part of next week then after blocking It will be time for color. I am really looking forward to getting paint on it. I will post some pictures this weekend of what I have done so far and then more after primer is on.

Finally something new to report with pictures. I have the Bronco in primer. I sprayed the high-build epoxy today and started to block. Here are a couple of shots that show the lack of handles and excess holes. I will post more tomorrow. I am hoping to get the blocking done then and maybe be able to to get the first part of the color on. which will be the secondary color in the middle which is 1969 AMC Big Bad Blue.

Here are a few more pictures. the last one is the epoxy primer I used. It is a 2K product that is direct to metal and can be mixed to use in different ways. I mixed it straight 4 to 1 to use as a high build. add some reducer for a standard primer.

She is getting very excited. I am too because this means I can get the 1962 Tempest in the shop and get the concrete put down on the upper half of the driveway.

The Big Bad Blue is done. Now that there is a shine on it you can really see my lack of body work skills. But as they say you only get better with experience. Maybe the next one will be better.

Sprayed the final color on Saturday. I will be putting wheels back on today and taking more pictures with all the tape off. I still have the bumpers and the window trim to finish before i can get assembly done.

I thought I would post one of the things that went wrong and maybe someone else will learn from my mistake. Above on this page there is a picture of the epoxy primer I used on this Bronco. Shortly after I bought it the can was knocked off a bench while I was out. when I came back there was a puddle on the floor. I was upset that I lost some primer but didn't think anything more about it. When I opened the can to use it I discovered there was about a quart gone. What I didn't realize was that what leaked out was the oils in the paint leaving the the paint solids still intact. So when i activated it as per the instructions it was far too thick and the pot life reduced. It sprayed so poorly that it took over 2 hours to get one coat on. By then the paint was curing in the can making it even thicker. So consequently I was only able to get half the gallon on the truck making blocking nearly impossible. So what would have been sanded straight and smooth was rough and the body work shows way more than I thought it should. Live and learn as they say. Keep your paint products in a safe place.

The Bronco is on hold for a week or so yet again. I got the green light to get the top portion of the driveway concreted. So I spent all day on the Bobcat grading and hauling dirt one bucket at a time a block away. I did manage to get most of it done so it should go quickly tomorrow. Then hurry up and wait for the finisher to get some free time to pour it.
