Yet Another Power Door Lock Question

Door switch on my '88 K5 operates the RH side just fine but not the LH side. RH switch does the same thing.

I've checked the switch, the actuator solenoid, there is power to the switch. Any ideas as to what I can check next?

I'm assuming since there is power to the switch the relay should be okay. Am I off on this assumption? (And if so, can the relays still be found?)

Thanks for your help.

Re: Yet Another Power Door Lock Question

You say you have power to the switch in question. Does it have power out when switched?

Re: Yet Another Power Door Lock Question

Might be a bad connection at the actuator. Had a devil of a time with my install. Must have removed the wires, cleaned and bent contacts two or three times. Would work for a while then quit.

Finally got a good, clean connection and made sure the plug had a good amount of di-electric grease to prevent corrosion. Been working for over a month now.

Also, the actuator needs a good ground to the door shell.

speedygozales,

I have power to the switch but not to the solenoid. Tested solenoid on battery and it seems to work fine.

Thanks, trukman1

The LH switch will operate the RH door lock but not the LH. I'm thinking I've got a ground issue somewhere or else a relay. I don't know how the relay operates and haven't even been able to find it even though I've read where it's "supposed" to be. Haven't found it yet. I'll keep looking and also try to find out if the relay can cause this problem. Since the RH side works I'm doubtful it's the relay but won't know for sure till I find and test it. Thanks.
