Talking Chevy S10 Baja Discovery

I was talking to a recent acquaintance today and the conversation moved over to trucks. He was asking about my new crate motor install in my 1984 C20 and then proceeded to tell me about this S10 Baja that he bought new in 1989 and has been stored away with only 6900 total miles from new. Never hit and has original paint. His is black with manual trans, all pwr, ac and 2.8 V6. They only came in three colors. From looking on the web it seems to be a pretty rare bird. Anyone ever seen one of these trucks and might have an idea what it could be worth? I think he's ready to let it go. He was saving it for one of his kids but they have no interest in it. I'm not a small truck guy. If I was I would be all over this one.

Since its not a Typhoon or Cyclone, I would say no more than 4k.

Re: Chevy S10 Baja Discovery

I don't have a clue as to it's value but the miles say everything and I can only find a couple for sale in the entire US. It's probably one of those vehicles for a special buyer. I'm going to suggest that he put it online and price it for best offer.

Re: Chevy S10 Baja Discovery

It sounds like a nice truck. The bad thing is the 2.8L V6. It's a good engine, but it's not a truck engine. I had an '86 Jeep Comanche pickup with the 2.8L/ M5 combo and it was gutless. It drove like a sports car compared to my old '69 Firebird but put any kind of weight in it and hit some grades and I had to wind it out in third gear at 45-50 mph. I think the 4.3L V6 that was later installed made all the difference in those trucks. I traded the '86 Jeep Comanche in on my '89 Chev K1500 EC which I still own and post about.

Re: Chevy S10 Baja Discovery

I didnt think the baja’s came with the 2.8, only the 4.3. I love the old square S-10s and would love to build a Baja, but I can’t get anything finished nowadays...

Cool Re: Chevy S10 Baja Discovery

It's my understanding that in order to get a 4.3 you had to order the truck with an automatic trans.
