Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

This is my kinda truck, wish I had the space for it. I wonder if it’s a highlander.

https://sacramento.craigslist.org/ct...117058850.html

1972 Chevy 1/2 Ton - $5000

350/350 automatic, AC, PS, new belts, new water pump, new fuel pump, ran really good on a gas can, I drive it over 20 miles, I drained out the gas tank, I should have taken it out and cleaned it, I drove it about 3 miles and it started running crappy, so it needs a little TLC, but the drive train is good, I do have two chrome strips that go on the sides, Truck is on a non-op so there are no extra fees, truck is in pretty decent shape, a little rust as you can see when you open the door $5000, won’t respond to emails without a number, call

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I wonder about the Highlander option too. Could be but the I wonder why anyone would ever remove the DELUXE badging from under the Custom/10? From what I know all Highlanders were Custom Deluxe.

It could have been wrecked early on and had the front clip replaced.

Could very well be a Highlander with the YGB Package as it as factory A/C which was in that package and included a tilt wheel and all tilt steering columns were black so I'm thinking someone pulled the tilt and replaced it with the brown/tan steering column. Also DG4 Chrome 7 x 10 exterior mirrors were included in the YG8 Package as well but there are white ones on the truck so again maybe a chrome for white swap. The doors are 72 with the screws under the vent windows and the scroll parchment door panels were on all Highlanders. I guess a spid pic would tell the tale.. Surprised to see truck doesnt have power brakes although it would have front discs as all 71/72's did. As a last comment when Highlanders came most folks didn't like the plaid seats so many many of them got seat covers or had the seat reupholstered when the trucks were fairly new..

The deluxe badges are there, right under the Custom/10.
Save the PIC and enlarge it if you can't see them.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

Hard to say if a highlander. With a/c, a package truck would have included tilt as Greg mentions. The carpet and dash pad are so dirty, I can't tell is they are tan or black. With a sandalwood column, it's possible this was just a regular non-highlander custom deluxe with parchment interior. Would like to see the SPID... It's either a YG8 with tilt swapped for non-tilt, or a non-"package" highlander with the seat cover long gone, or it's just a regular custom deluxe non-highlander with a parchment interior (and original column).

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I bet is a saddle interior non-highlander given the color of the column and the matching ac vents. Saddle dash too?

Nice but only has 2 doors, kind of defeated the purpose of adding the big cab extension.

As the price reflects. I'm sure if it had 4 doors it would be 10 grand more. In 1995 extra cab trucks didn't have more than 2 doors and they were only really an extra 1/2 cab. Crew cabs were pretty rare and so expensive. So this truck was kind of ahead of the curve for the day.

I'm not surprised. If my Dodge had sold last month I would have been all over it. Putting 5-6 grand into paint (White Blue White) and a 3rd door on the drivers side and then flip it for $40,000.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

It ain't on CL, but there is a 3/4T D-D-D-truck around the corner from me that has been for sale for a long time. I'm guessing that it is about a '70. I know how to fix 'em, but hesitate at the D-D-D- part. It's painted purple, to boot! If it sits much longer I guess I'll have to break down and talk to the guy about a price. I want another truck but finding a long bed step side Chevy or GMC for sale seems to be like looking for hen's teeth. I'd take anything between '48 and '72, but it would have to be in decent condition, as far as the body goes. I'm not a body man, but the rest is something I can do...though I'm getting old.

I'm Jonesing on that green one! Looks like only surface rust. And the price is mighty attractive, too! The bubble gum machine on the roof has to go! That Napco is very cool, but I sure don't need a 4WD.

No under hood pics, so we will have to assume the compressor is there.

If that thing wasn't on the other end of the world, I would look at it. I don't know if I could get my wife to go up in that country to pick up another truck or not. I'm betting she would stay here and have the locks changed while I'm gone.
