no power?
ok so i got a 97 blazer with the v6 and it had a new motor put in as it spun a baring. now 500miles later you can start it it will idel but you can not get it in gear or rev it up as it wil stall. the cheack light is on. have not scand it yet. this truck does have the smart start as my brother has to have it do to dui. any help plz lol

It would be better if you could post up the codes. Also I'm not sure exactly how those smart starts work. Do they not allow the vehicle to start, or does it not allow it to rev, or go in gear
 ? Not going in gear, Without the Smart start, I would look at the brake switch, that kicks out the shifter release. (I assume its an automatic trans?) As for the not reving, I would check fuel pressure, and codes. might have a bad throttle position sensor. Get the codes,a nd check back, maybe someone else can chime in also.

ok got the codes. 1. p0121 2. p0141 3.p0146 4. p0462
now the ? becoams what is comen between all of them. as far as the smart start only stops it from starting not going into gear. thnaks. mike

P0121 throttle position sensor p0141 rear oxy sensor. p0146 also ox sensor, not active. p0462 fuel level sensor circuit.
Makesure the connections to the PCM are clean and not corroded. check all the battery connections for the same thing.,corrision.

ok so you are thinking that it is the feed to the ecu? i will check them and make shure they are good. the batt and alt are new also. thanks, mike

Well, I'm just giving you idea as to where to start. for me, it hard to diagnosis one over the net. There are ways to check to see if your TPS is bad with digital volt meter. Check fuel pressure, the FP should be above 50psi. Your best bet would be find someone with a scanner. and knows how to use it.
Heck it could be as easy as swapping the fuel filter. FP is everything on these motors. checking FP can help verify that.

Ok tiday I scand it and she is running......but... Wont idel less the 2k abd the scaner is not seeing any of the sebsor info. But will read the codes and clear then fine. This is not my first time with a scaner but its been some time. Checked all connentions seem ok.

Ok today we moved foward. It is talking to the scaner. Everything seems to work and read where and how it should but the tps. 38% with no input. So it is idleaing around 1100rpm.
So thinking it is just that but she still dont shift where she should. Will shift when u lift off throttle. Seems wierd Posted via Mobile Device
