Question Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

What I have is a '70 with a 454. I bought it as someone elses unfinished project and it did not have any radiator hoses on it so I have nothing to use as a guide for a new one. Does anyone know a part number for the lower radiator hose? Or maybe a pic of the correct one? Autozone can't seem to get it right. Thanks for any help.

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

i ended up making my own
I went into my local napa and just dug thru the racks until I found one section of each that I liked
I had to change mine around to clear my low mount alternator

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

These are the correct NAPA hose numbers for factory BB for our trucks. 7459 and 7371. They are on my truck and fit perfectly and clear everything.

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

Great information! I searched my local shops trying to match up my line and never found anything, I had to put my trash one back one and had planned on purchasing the expensive braided hose line, now I dont need too!

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

I've got a 454 in my 67 and I got my hose at autozone or carquest (can't remember which one) no problem. I just asked for a lower hose for a 68 with a 396. They had to order it, but it is a perfect fit. Long water pump on mine. I will look to see if I have a part number.

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

Pardon my ignorance but, how do I determine if the water pump is short or long? Here is a not so good pic, can it be determined from this photo? Thanks again for the help.

Comparison between the short leg water pump assembly used on early big blocks and the long leg pump (rear) found on most late model engines.

“Tall” water pump has reinforced snout to strengthen the pump body and is interchangeable between Mark IV, Gen.V and Gen.VI motors with V–belts. Serpentine belt systems use a reverse rotation water pump.

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

A really old thread, but good info on the Radiator hoses

I will add, on the short vs. long water pump. A quick visual inspection, if the back of the pump is right up against timing cover, you've got the SHORT pump.
For the record, my '68 (396) does have the short pump.

Even for an almost 10 year old thread ; ), I just looked up the NAPA radiator hose numbers, and they still come up

Re: Lower Radiator Hose for BB???

I recently found a lower radiator hose from Jeg's that fit my set up well:

Lower Radiator Hose for 1969-1972 Chevrolet/GMC Truck [Direct-Fit Replacement for GM 3947117]
Part Number: 555-52467

I'm about to buy the upper radiator hose from them too. I saw it on a truck in at a car show last summer. However, at the same car show I met a guy that had one from LMC that looks a lot like the Napa part referenced above and seemed to fit great too.

Upper Radiator Hose for 1968-1972 Chevrolet/GMC Truck [Direct-Fit Replacement for GM 3947120]
Part Number: 555-52462
