Rear Drum Brake Question

Looking for a replacement part for the spring circled. Want to get the right tension and shape as well thats a unique oval shape. Haven't had any luck with part stores so coming to the experts. This is from a 1967 GMC Camper Cruiser 3/4 ton.

Re: Rear Drum Brake Question

I don't know if you can buy just that spring, might try the wrecking yard probably a pretty common size/item for many years.

You can buy the whole hardware kit which would include that spring thru Napa, O'Riellys, Rock Auto, etc.

Here's a kit that does both sides:

Re: Rear Drum Brake Question

Not having much luck on Rock Auto.

What I DID find was that piece of metal there is called a Parking Brake Strut. The spring might be a Parking Brake Strut Spring. Googling that, I get some results.

Found 1 here:

Another on Amazon:

Nope. Note that this kit is for FRONT brakes; parking brakes only on the rear.

I haven't managed to dig up th right one yet, but those aren't the ones.

JBL,
I just rebuilt my rear brakes on my C2500 this fall.
I'm fairly sure the spring kit I purchased had new versions of these springs, and I also believe I still have my old ones in a bag out in my garage.

Send me a personal message if you want the original springs that I have.

Take care, JP

Thumbs up Re: Rear Drum Brake Question

I ordered the spring kits for my daughters 68 step side and it had all the springs included in them.
Here is a kit now weather they look like the originals I can't say 100% but they work. That's all that matter to me.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
