That’s for sure Greg. My door is overdue for the lube job...don’t want to be the neglectful owner again.

Me too Mike! There are so many bad ones out there... thanks Mike. We like how it is coming together. Need to get my shelves and metal rack back in there so I can get organized.

Builder won’t make it back until next week. He called and asked me if that would be OK. Of course I said that would be fine.

I do find I spend a lot of time sweeping that space....takes a long time.

Thanks Greg! It does give the shop a better look...and so much more convenient than rolling and latching the old door closed.

I thought this was kind of a cool pic...transition from old to new. That door had hung there for 50 years.

They did make it look really consistent with the rest of the building. Good guys that know what they are doing.

That would give more protection. I was going for lazy and convenient.

The metal pulled from the doors had an overlap that was never painted nor exposed to the elements. The zinc looks nearly new even though it is 50 years old.

So the overlap is by the back door and I decided to not paint it, showing what the building looked like when new. Kind of like the strip of bricks on the start finish line at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Yeah, it is filling up already and I still have the metal rack and a 48 truck cab to stuff in there.

With the South and the East doors open, there is usually a nice breeze that gets funneled through making a nice place to take a break. That I did yesterday, hoping those storms to the South would track a bit more North and bring some rain. They didn’t....getting so dry.

Thanks Rob!

Next on the list is to place white gravel (we call it Chet rock) around the base of the building and in the drive to the back door. Holding off until it dries up. Geesh, we went from almost drought conditions to river flooding around here.

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

So I had the bucket truck out for repairs on the house and took this pic of the shop. It is coming together, though I need to move the old fuel oil tanks somewhere else. And put the white gravel around the base.

And we have bats, leaving droppings over everything in the back of the shop. This was an hour after I cleaned this area up. Frustrating....

Re: Shop improvements and upgrades. Better Space!

Thanks Mike. I’ve had a few of the carpenter bees drilling on the front posts though fortunately they haven’t been too bad.

Thanks Greg, I might give the ultra sonic noise makers a try. I have my doubts it will work due to the size of the building. I will probably need to seal around all the rafters and roof to wall intersection. Thinking bats can get through those tight spaces.

The views are really flat around here and it is very quiet. We usually stop what we are doing to wave at the occasional car that drives by.

Yeah, with the pond close and a river a little ways behind us the bats usually have pretty good feasting around here.

Figured I am going to fix this the right way.

So I was Googling bats and came across http://www.thebatguy.com

He is a little too far away, so he hooked me up with an expert about an hour from me. He will come by next week to evaluate.

Bats can be a blessing outside but man are they a mess inside. They along with a super huge nest of cattle hornets have all but taken over my neighbors garage. He can't even go in anymore and is talking about burning it down lol

Yeah it is frustrating. We spent years saving the cash for this upgrade and the new concrete is guano stained.

Hmm...what are cattle hornets? Based on the name they sound wicked.
