How the heck does the grill attach, 76 GMC *revisited*

I must be missing some brackets the grill screws onto?

Theres two stamped steel brackets that are probably missing if your truck had and aftermarket grill on it.

Re: How the heck does the grill attach, 76 GMC

Well, I found the brackets off a 79 3/4 ton GMC truck but they are to deep/big. The mounting holes line up perfect but the grill sticks out way to far when I try and mount it My question is, are there shallower brackets for the 76? Thanks for any help!

Lets see the grill and core support...maybe you have some mismatched parts?

Re: How the heck does the grill attach, 76 GMC

Are the brackets off the truck you are putting the grill in, or off another? They doo look awful deep, deeper than the ones I pulled off my 77 when I put in the 73/74 grill.

EDIT, saw your earlier post...duh. I think these are incorrect for the grill you have. I wish I kept the 77 brackets so I could compare, but I couldn't sell them so I pitched them.

There are some pics from a "76" core support in the following thread. The supports look similar, but I can't tell exactly. Also, who knows if it was really a 76 core support or not.

The grille looks to be a 73/74. They take a whole different set of brackets...

That isn't a 73/74 grill

Re: How the heck does the grill attach, 76 GMC

that is a 75/76 GMC grille I have one I would like to install on something but your brackets look a lot taller than mine. All of the pieces I have came off of the same truck pic is of left side bracket

Re: How the heck does the grill attach, 76 GMC

Thanks for the input. I did the most bonehead move, I left the grill setting in the opening and forgot about it. A few days later I get in the truck and drive it around the corner.....the grill fell out and I ran over the corner of it!!!!!
