1970 cst 4x4

So i finally convinced my wife to let me get one of these. The plan is to make it a daily driver for now on the cheap. While also handling some of the upgrades along the way. Here is what I started with.

Can anyone tell me what this bracket is or was for??

I like that its a factory 4x4 4 speed and it runs and drives. I don't like all the rust and body work in my future haha. I have made some progress already I will post pictures soon.

one of the first thing I did was the scotch brite trick. I didn't have clr so I used window cleaner and it had the same effect.

Re: 1970 cst 4x4

I started cleaning up manageable pieces one by one.

The hinges eventually need to be replaced but I thought it was worth some elbow grease and paint to get them looking nice for now.

The springs shine up really fast with some mothers polish and some time watching a movie.

Picture of hinges soon to come.

I then started on those nasty valve covers. I needed to replace the gaskets so I decided to dress the covers up as well.

I used citristrip to remove the old paint it worked great!

Then painted it with high heat ceramic paint in semi gloss black

I thought polishing up the bolts would be a nice touch.

I also cleaned up the engine compartment a bit

Welcome, glad to see another start to restore an old truck. Keep up the work. I do like the old 4X4's.

Welcome from Phoenix Arizona. Glad to have you here.
Very nice looking truck to begin your journey. Keep us posted with progress pics. We kinda feed off each other for motivation and inspiration to get out there and work on ours.
