1976 sierra grande 31xxx original mile truck

just found a pretty good original 76 sierra grande I bought off the original owners family, been Oklahoma its whole life going through quadrajet now. Any ideas for an original seat upholstery cover she is starting to separate in the seems. Also someone stole the grande emblem from the dash. Any ideas or opinions on the truck looking for suggestions on buffing paint and driving it as it is after brake work . I tried posting pictures but it says I'm missing a security token?

Re: 1976 sierra grande 31xxx original mile truck

Thanks for posting. I was curious about the seat cover - it looks a lot like the Chevrolet Bonanza seat cover - which makes sense now that I see your SPID, because this is a Z62 trim truck. So, with this being the first year of the Silverado for Chevrolet, what was GMC’s YE9 trim level called in 76? I’m not exactly up to speed on my GMC facts and figures... (in other words... I normally spend life on the 67-72 side of the house and was expecting a YE9 on the SPID for a Sierra Grande - yet the seat stuck out to me as not top trim level, Bonanza-like )

Re: 1976 sierra grande 31xxx original mile truck

here's a pic of a 76 Bonanza seat for comparison - they are the same, which makes sense, both Z62 trim level for Chev/GMC. But might help you locate one. I don't know anyone that makes one.

Re: 1976 sierra grande 31xxx original mile truck

Nice truck. With the Brake controller, HD springs, stabilizer bar, HD drop bumper and trailer connector, looks like it was setup to tow livestock or similar trailers. Ding in the tailgate probably came from an overshoot while backing to hookup a trailer. Bumper likely rated for somewhere between 7000 and 10,000lbs tow weight.

Seat looks very similar to the one that used to be in my 75 Scottsdale trim 1/2 ton. Except mine was tan.

We had a local upholstery shop stitch up a new cover not that big a deal (this was back in the 1990's)
