Well I'll be darn: The truck won and the mustang lost!!!!!!

I posted awhile back that I was thinking about thinning my herd and I wasn't sure which one I was going to get rid of. It was between my truck, which has a little cool to it but not much resale value or my 67 Mustang Fastback. The Mustang has all the original running gear and would make a killer ride but everytime I cut myself, I bleed chevy orange. My wife and I wanted to pay cash for a slightly newer travel trailer and the sale of the stang would be a great start.

I put it on craigslist and dealt with tire kickers for about a week. Got old fast. I decided to give ebay a try, Now realize that this car needed work although it does run and drive. I listed it at about 10pm on Friday night for $9,500. I sheet you not.....it was on eBay for about 20 minutes and some guy from SoCal bought it with a "buy it now". I could not believe it. Anyway, I thought it would be kinda cool to prove my loyalty that CHEVY RUNS DEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Well I'll be darn: The truck won and the mustang lost!!!!!!

Like I told my wife, it would be so hard to sell this thing simply because of the fact that my hands are the only ones that have touched it. I have held those pistons close to my heart! lol

It's funny that people would ask when I was going to get started on it. Heck....it got passed over by my Camaro. Just not interested in working on a Ford.

My BIL is a Ford guy... he has 3 of those fastbacks at his shop. On a calm clear PNW evening... you can hear them rusting to the ground under the tarps.

Maybe he was one of the jokers that called me from Seattle. I ran it up there in that craigslist and only got a best offer of $8,000.

Oh.....did I mention that I paid $2,750 for it?? CHA-CHING!!!

man thats a profit. although the mustang is a good looking car, itll now have a home where itll be a useless show queen no doubt. to be drooled at. but not respected and honored like our trucks that have shown their ability for many years.

If it was......I would have asked $10,000 silly!

No doubt it can or will be nice. Just hope the buyer has deep pockets. That's what it takes to do one of these right. I really feel we both won though. I will have so much more fun with my family camping than walking past this thing for the 100th time.

Not sure what the deal is with your x-mustang not having a center console,
maybe they were only equiped with the larger engines.

Anyhow, lets say goodbye to what could have been, one more time -

Talk about a race car!

For inquiring minds that don't know the truck, this is the shop truck that won. It's different and doesn't get lost in the parking lot!

Re: Well I'll be darn: The truck won and the mustang lost!!!!!!

Falcons,I mean Mustangs are pretty cool but I'll take a truck any day. You done good Jethro. I chose my trucks and Harleys over my '63 Riviera 425 dual quad (also baby blue). Sure,I'd like to have that car still, but selling it opened up doors that had been stuck shut for too long. It was in great original condition running condition, but would end up needing a restoration that would have dug quite a hole. I decide to move on rather than marry it.

Re: Well I'll be darn: The truck won and the mustang lost!!!!!!

Is it to the "he's got the car and you got the money" stage, or did he just hit buy-it-now? 'Cause there is a big difference. I have had some crazy people that don't read the whole ad buy cars on Ebay and mess up the whole deal. I hope it works out for you, but it ain't over 'till it's over.

I do understand that. He did hit the buy it now and also IMMEDIATELY paid me the $500 non-refundable deposit. We have had a lengthy conversation on the phone about transportation and are working out the small details with the balance of the money. He is not sure if he can pick it up in person and might have a transport come up here. He is certainly not a kid and I am not the least bit concerned about wrapping it up. Boy do I know what you are talking about though.

Re: Well I'll be darn: The truck won and the mustang lost!!!!!!

I traded my 65 mustang for a 70 GMC short bed, it was a very happy day! I hated the mustang! It was so cheaply built that the door latches even tore out of the jambs, the steel was so thin the latches simply tore the steel. Everything about it was just cheap! That was the last Ford I ever owned! You made the correct desicion!

Re: Well I'll be darn: The truck won and the mustang lost!!!!!!

For the little that you showed in the ad, the unibody/underside/engine bay
look DAMN clean, little or no rust. That's probably what sold it so quickly.
A cinch to clean up. With that alone, prob. could have gotten almost twice
for it.

Sorry I'm a little bias, we grew up ruling the streets with a 79 Mustang pace car
that had a 351 Windsor. Freaking awesome

It's there. When you start out in first, you don't scratch. The smiley face is showing banging 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear!

I know where you are coming from but selling muscle type cars is not my first rodeo. Many people on CL had a chance and passed. It was a great deal for the seller and buyer. You get up on it and it had a bunch of little push in type dents other issues. Bottom line is that I have had so freaking many good deals come my way, like buying a camaro rear end for $125 and selling it the next day for $850, that I need to pay a few forward.

You ever seen a picture of a hot gal and you meet her and she's not that hot?? Get the point? lol
