0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

Not sure I've seen a thread like this before, so I decided I'd give it go and see how things turn out. Any 0-60 clips, or random acceleration clips are welcome, doesn't matter if you have a truck that does 0-60 in 6 seconds, or 16 seconds This thread isn't a d**k measuring contest, so be nice.

This truck is mine, a 1970 custom camper C/20
402 with an intake and various other things, hooked up to a Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. This run wasn't very good, unfortunately. Brake torqued it on top of gravel, so not a very good start. And it was surging a bit on the top end, which was really strange. I also had about 300 pounds of extra stuff in the truck, so that doesn't help. I know, excuses excuses lol. Anyways, enjoy! Not too bad for my first vehicle https://youtu.be/MPsR8c7EhVg

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

My truck would be dismal in this dept now. I'll do one when the 402 is installed.
I do have this clip of my Z06 getting to 60 in 3.5 sec. https://youtu.be/ZYpDHtUtJ58?t=74

Not bad at all!!...nicely done. Looks like something close to 10 seconds which is hauling the mail for a 3/4ton (5000lb) vehicle for sure.

All Good

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

I'm sorry, but my stomach got sick watching the first video. Really? Holding a camera while trying to reach a speed the fastest you can? No thanks, I value mine and others lives much more than that. I'm not even sure if this site should accept a thread like this, as it's a matter of time before someone gets hurt or killed. Dam whippersnappers!

Hopefully one day your truck is quicker than your z06 haha. But yeah, that's a nice run. Good launch, clean shifts. Good job!

Considering I was on a completely straight road that's about a half mile long, with an existing speed limit of 45 as is, and there was no one behind me or ahead of me for the entire run, I'd say it's pretty safe. And I was holding my phone while holding the steering wheel at the same time. I always had two hands on the wheel, and I only looked at my screen when I first started recording to make sure I had a shot of the Speedo. Even when I shut the video off, I didn't look. That's why the video goes on for a few seconds after I reached 60.

Fairly safe, if you ask me. I don't condone going "Fast" unless you're in complete control of a vehicle you're confident in, in an environment where danger to yourself, passengers and civilians is minimized.

Yeah, people have definitely had slower first cars haha. It's quick enough for my 18 year old self to learn how to handle acceleration and high speeds. I've been wanting to get a better run, but I simply haven't had the chance, surprisingly.

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

Don't know what the 0-60 time was (adequate I guess). I had serious traction problems with the previous wheels/tires but here is a first three (of six) gear pull.

http://vid780.photobucket.com/albums...ps5xxgmlce.mp4

I've got much better tires now that'll hook but some other changes have required me to basically start over on my EFI tuning so it's back to square one.

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

Got a better 0-60 time the other day! Timed it at around 8.7 seconds. Truck info is earlier in the thread and in the video description if you're curious https://youtu.be/5qB6ExTMpUI

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

Ha, I knew there had to be a thread like this!

Getting a video was challenging, used my iPad Pro. Which I almost dropped when I took off. Looking at my video editor, 0-60 took 10.17 seconds. Not going to win any drag races that's for sure LOL

Video may not be embedded if you are using https for the Truck Forums (which you should be using https) - so just click the banner to get to YouTube.

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

Here's a video of my truck from before I replaced the TH400 with a 700R4. It was difficult then to maintain traction in first gear with an open diff. It is even harder now with the ridiculously low first gear of the 700R4.

I'm pretty happy with how my engine turned out just by throwing on a used set of Vortec heads and a new cam. Anyone who has put moderate effort into building a performance engine would blow me away though.

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

my understanding is with my rebuild going with builder dished and not flat top pistons hurt me (and the fat builders head gasket too). Oh well, I still can get down the road okay. The goal was never to be anywhere near a performance engine.

It looks like your engine has enough power to be fun, and it's well-tuned. I got lucky since my engine already had flat top pistons.

Re: 0-60 clips / Acceleration videos thread

Several years ago New Smyrna Speedway hosted a Sun. afternoon event they called an old style drag race. It's a paved 1/2mi. banked oval. They used the pit lane for the drag strip. No timing device and pretty girl dropping her arms for the starter. $5 entry fee & burn all the tire you want. Probably had straight 400' to 500' to the banked first turn. LOTS of cars/trucks/motorcycles. Run your buddy or whoever you came up against. Big fun compared to looking at cars at a car show. They only did it twice. Only casualty I know of was a Cobra kit car that hit the pit wall pretty hard with the front.
Wish I had video. It was hard to make the Blazer go with a 3.08 open rear, TKO500 with a 3.27 low gear & a mild 454. Only had to wait in line about 10 minutes to run again....& again...
