Missing bed rib "Factory swb Fleetside"

Hey all, I need some input from you short fleet owners with factory 115" trucks. We are aware of the style line in front of the rear wheel well difference, but how about this one. Drivers side rear floor, right in front of the tailgate, what years have the furthest left raised floor rib? My 69 had it, but we found a 72 is flat. Is it a geographical anomoly? I'm wondering if a 71 is a flat or raised rib. I know it is splitting hairs, but I am curious.

Re: Missing bed rib?

Nobody? I added a screenshot off a video of an unrestored 71. So, I'm assuming the 71 is the same as a 72. I am still not sure about the 70 though.

Re: Missing bed rib?

Thanks for the pic, but this ,I believe is only going to apply to the factory short box. I was told many years ago that the later years were stamped behind the drivers side wheel tub missing the little round rib. But, only on that side. It is just a detail thing and something tells me that the 71 was like the 72. I have a friend locally with a 96xxx mile 2nd owner original truck, but he is away on vacation. I am cutting a 71 bed down and I want to include that detail if it applies.

Re: Missing bed rib?

Here's a 1970. I can't quite tell if that area is visible in this photo.

Re: Missing bed rib?

I can't tell on the red one, but the last one you posted is absolutely what I wanted to see. I will move forward with the missing raised rib. I know most people haven't a clue or really don't care. I like the details and finding out more about these trucks we are stewards of. Thanks for posting the links.

Re: Missing bed rib?

Here is my friend's 71 96,000 original one owner untouched truck. As I suspected, 71 and 72 short fleets shared this detail.
