Lowering Springs

does any one have a pair of 6 inch lowering spring for the rear for a 67/ C-10

6 inches seems like an awful lot to me. I dont know much about suspension, but if your spring is only 8 or 9 in. tall, a 6 in drop spring cant leave too much travel. I dont know what your fabrication capabiliities are (access to tools, experience, etc.), but i would try and make a spacer for between the rear end and trailing arms, then just have a machine shop fab you some longer u-bolts. Use that in addition to like a 3 or 4 in. drop spring and you should be in alot better shape. But like i said i dont know much about this subject im just going by what i saw when i looked under mine.

The key is using the rear shock reloctor brackets and the super track bar (replaces the panhard).
I'll be rolling the 6" rear drop setup on my truck very soon

They must not sit on top of the trailing arm then, cuz i just measured my stock springs and they were a hair over 9". Did they come with mounts to put them along side the trailing arm or something? Or did it come with c-notch or what? Im just curious how they make a 6" drop spring when stock is 9, and the drop spring is 8.5. those numbers just dont add up. Be patient, im learning

Huh? My stock rear springs are about 13.25" tall. They mount in the factory location.

You need a rear shock relocator set (upr and lower plates), shorter shocks and the adj panhard bar (Super track bar).

No C notch required according to ECE and other sources

Stock spring on the left - ECE 6" drop spring on the right

ECE is the best choice. Get the shock relocators and the adjustable panhard bar also. NO notch required. Installing the springs by themselves will shift the rearend to the passenger side.

There have been lots of guys on here say that 6 inch rear drop is too much for a non c-notched truck.

A little story about my 6 inch dropped truck....

When I drove my truck to the Texas board meet, I hauled my mini chopper in the bed. Then, at the meet, me and another ol boy, totalling about 500 pounds between us, bounced the rear of my truck as hard as we could, and we couldn't make it bottom out at all. That's 500 lbs of bouncing rednecks and a little motorcycle in the bed.

Another time, I hauled my fully dressed 454 big block and turbo 400 transmission in my bed, weighing god only knows how much. Speed bumps, dips, everyplace at normal driving speed, no bottoming out ever.

ECE stuff rocks. It works, fits, looks nice, and still allows you to haul a real load in the truck. ECE 6 inch drop springs are great.

couldn't you save some cash by buying 4" drop springs and then install 2" lowering blocks? Not sure on the cost difference and if it's reakky worth it.

Hey Tx: is the 6" drop on your green stepside or the orange short fleet you used to have in your avatar?

The 4 and 6 inch springs springs cost the same, so buying springs and then longer u-bolts would cost more overall. Plus, lowering blocks can cause scrub line issues if you go to big on them.

My orange truck had a 4 inch rear drop. My newest stepside has 6 inch rear drop. Ride is the same between the two trucks.

Wow. I'm confused. I guess i must have drop springs because my springs coils are all even like your drop springs-theyre not closer in the center. And theyre definately not 13.25" tall. I guess you never know what your gonna get. Now lets hope i got a 383 like the seller says.

Rear drop was a sinch to install Started on the front but decieded to buy a front end rebuild kit while I have it apart. No sense in doing this twice

If you measured them while they are in the truck, you probably came up with about 9 inches...

If you are looking for some from vendor on the board I know GMCPauls has them that is where I got my 4 inch drop ones. I am sure others on here has them too. ECE seems to always get the votes for these type parts, they sure have several on this line. If you are trying to save money they are pretty cheap for what they are anyway I bet the prices are all pretty close.
