Are there kits for these or are they mostly a custom fab situation?

Are you looking to stiffen the front of your chassis? If you are, you can do forward strut tubes with a front motor plate. This is what I did for my project. And, to answer your question, yes, it is generally a custom fabrication project.

Forward struts:


Cardboard templates:


0.25" thick 6061 cut out and mocked up:

1963 C-10: Deluxe-optioned cab, shortbed, fleetside
Pontiac 462 ci, Kauffman D-Port alum. heads
4L80E, narrowed sheetmetal Ford 9-inch
Tubular front and rear suspension
Custom 6-piston front disc and 4-piston rear disc brakes

Mostly I was thinking just for core support so I can remove the inner fenderwells. I havent got to the point of "needing" them yet, just looking for ideas for when I do finally get to this point.

I have the porterbuilt setup up front and also putting in a big block. Seeing the setup in the pic I submitted leaves everything open.
