Careful, that 10 wheeler might be too far gone to save. Notice how it has full length frame reinforcements, and the outer frame rail is bulging out between the crossmember rivets? That can be caused by excessive rust between the rails, and is not fixable. Check it carefully. Then again, at that price you can't complain too much! Lots of good parts.

It was probably a Toro-Flow and was replaced by a gas V-6. Common swap back in the day, pretty much a bolt-in.

If someone buys that and they want to remove that dealer emblem I would love to have it for my collection. I know, cheap plug, not a parts for sale thread. But that is the way for a truck junky... and that one is local!

Yes, in the Piedmont region. Not real near but local on the internet scale. You know one version of where Federalsburg's name comes from is due to it being settled by northern people. Imagine that . Of course, the other is it is where the Federalist Party* met in 1812.

Very cool. I bumped into the town during one of my country drives in my ol truck and said to myself, something important must of happened here for a town to have a name like that.

I've never been. I'd like to check out many Eastern Shore towns I've never been to. It's the first Maryland, so much history. I'd like to spend a weekend or more meandering on roads to see where they go, or until I hit water. I did cedar siding on Tighlman Is. 25 or more years ago, and a large place in St. Micheals. Peck's Place on Pea Neck Point. Pretty Pretentious Place . We;d stay over in Easton and on we got to do some exploring in that area, crab boat builder shops, etc. Very cool and very different from here. Never heard of G & L GMC. Probably a place like Knott & Geisbert that we had nearby until about 10 years ago. They started out selling horse-drawn farm implements, then Oliver tractors and GMC Trucks. Closed on Saturdays, not your cosmopolitan dealership boutique by a long shot

Nice "Crackerbox" Was only in one of these once. And I was cushioning, not driving. That was enough for me. Cool once in a while for a show, yes. An every day work truck, no thanks. This one is "COOOOOOL"...

I don't remember details, but in 1967 my dad went down to the Chevy dealer and priced out a new twin screw truck with diesel power. I was all excited, but in the end he stuck with the old binder and Mack we were running.

Great picture of a nice heavy 6500.

Another '62 Model.

Check out those Front Springs.

That truck sits so high that they welded some foot rungs to the front bumper and a grille guard to grab onto to boot. Otherwise you would need a step ladder to open the hood, lol.

The six spoke wheel is very uncommon in this series as well, it must be the heaviest front axle available.

Actually it is an East Coast - West Coast thing.

Most trucks, years back anyway, in the East had Spokes, where the West Coast had Budds. My '62 6500 here in the East had Spokes, as did my '67 7500 as well as my '71 9500.

Although were Spokes stronger and possibly used in heavy West Coast applications? That would be a good question.

The number of spokes is interesting, 6, not the more common 5 spoke. Must be in the 15K range instead of more common 11k range. But, when you deal in concrete, you spec extra heavy in everything.

Yeah, since a your lad a tandem rear truck has been a fetish. And these '60s trucks were the mainstay models of the time (born in '55). But as I have come of age I have grown to appreciate the single axles as having their place for lighter duty... and realizing trucks are tailored to suit. Overkill is awesome but economics is a concern for a business. And today in the antique truck world they are popular for needing less garage space. But mainly... I could really use a truck like that 4000. That's a heap of truck above a 1t

Many of the old 10-Wheeler trucks were actually Tag Axle trucks. In other words once a Single Axle and then another was added. Check out the first two pictures above. Both look like they have 5-Lug Fronts. I doubt a Tandem Axle truck would come that way from the factory.

Always liked the truck in that last picture. Although what year is it. No emblem on the side, unless it's hidden by the fender?

I don't think the Chevy L series was available as a tandem. The GMC B series was.
