Re: Head Gasket

There's not really enough information there to make a recommendation. Generally on a 350 changing from an .048 to .015 gasket will give about a .6 increase in CR. You'll want one of the rubber-coated steel shim gaskets as the deck/head surface won't be smooth enough for a steel gasket.

There's no reason to chase CR unless you're doing a cam swap that needs it - a .5 increase in CR is worth maybe a 1-2% power bump on an otherwise stock or mild engine.

Re: Head Gasket

Increasing CR won't measurably increase torque...and 305 heads are complete junk regardless of the CR increase they give with a smaller chamber.

The best way to increase torque, given the little detail here, is to swap the cam for an "RV" cam, put on good headers, ideally a tri-y design and look at a torque coverter swap.
