Cigarette Lighter - Factory Option or Dealer Installed?

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if this was a factory option, a dealer installed cigarette lighter on the dash, or just someone who smoked a lot? It came off of a 1968 C20 Custom Camper that was heavily optioned. I'm including a copy of the glovebox sticker. I do know that it is a '67 bezel for the lighter.

99/1 it's a mod. Then again, I'm 50/50 on things I know little about

Factory Cigar Lighters were right of the Heater Controls. This was some PO's ''bright idea.''

That was the location for a choke cable or choke delete in 67-68.

Re: Cigarette Lighter - Factory Option or Dealer Installed?

Did the cigarette lighter ever become "standard" at some point, or come automatically with a certain trim level or option? I've seen it as a listed option on the SPID, and then on other trucks it's there without being listed on SPID. And by there, I mean in the factory position to the right of Heater/AC controls.

Re: Cigarette Lighter - Factory Option or Dealer Installed?

im pretty sure the cig lighter was a option but did come in most of our trucks, if you look for lighter deletes on here, youll see the plug that would go in the lighter hole area in the dash
FYI thats a 1968 dash cluster. and a 68-72lighter.

Re: Cigarette Lighter - Factory Option or Dealer Installed?

Yeah someone added that to a 68 cluster, as other stated that was the choke knob location or the delete plate. Ive never seen a truck that didnt have a factory lighter to the right of the heater controls as it made the dash symmetrical with the ignition on the left side and lighters were pretty standard back then with how more people smoked back then.

The lighter was an option (U37) in '71 but in this case it was included as part of the Z62 Custom trim package. Previous body style (66 and older) shows a lighter as a dealer installed option.

Re: Cigarette Lighter - Factory Option or Dealer Installed?

My '70 had the delete plug, so I would guess it was an option in 1970.

Re: Cigarette Lighter - Factory Option or Dealer Installed?

My 71 C/20 was ordered new by the Burlington Northern Railroad. Radio and lighter were not ordered. The bigger omission was no power steering.

Yeah, I was wondering if something like that was the case. On my '72 Blazer it has factory lighter in the correct position, but it's not listed on the SPID. So, it was either dealer installed, or included with something else. I remember wondering why the power brakes weren't listed on my SPID until I found out they were standard with 4wd.
