got bored

Got bored yesterday and decided to move my carport to a more usable area so momma could park underneath. ( trying to score points ) I been wanting to move it for a while since it was on the wrong side of the house, had been using it for overflow storage since I moved the business back home. I finally got all the business stuff sorted and it was sitting unused but I dreaded the though of taking it apart for the 3rd time to move it, so instead I came up with a plan. Instead of an all day project it took less than an hour by myself to get it done.

I am surrounded pretty well by trees so the wind is not terrible most of the time. To date I would just pull my dually inside and ratchet strap the roof to my camper bars if the forecast called for heavy winds, but now that I have it where I think it will stay I will probably drive rebar down after I call miss utility. The power wire going to my house is somewhere right there

You can't keep a good man down. Sometimes a man just needs some time to think.

Re: got bored

I think people really underestimate skidsteer. Homeowners anyway. What they can do and how handy they are. It's really the ultimate tool. I know guys that love tractors so much that they refuse to give skidsteers their credit. My old 610 has paid for itself so many times. And no offense to the tractor guys. But it's hard to beat a skidsteer. But like comparing a box to a flatbed to a utility bed. There is no such thing as a machine that can do it all. Nice job Richard. You got jokes and skills. Nice combo.

Re: got bored

Thanks guys, It actually started out as a joke but then I got thinking about it and figured what the hay, nothing to lose but all day to gain. Other than momma keeping an eye on me when I got close up to the building it was pretty much a one man show for the duration. I used c clamp vise grips to attach the feet of the pallet rack upright to the roof tubes so it would not shift around. Only thing I would do different if I move it again is to clamp some angle to the tips of the forks instead of the pallet. I almost popped 2 holes thru the roof bc I could not see my angle had changed. Even though the ground may look flat in the pics, the elevation drops about a foot or more from the middle of the front yard out to the lane which put me right at max height on the lift arms to keep from hitting. All worked out in the end, got it blocked up level yesterday and gonna power wash it today. Then on to my next task of fixing my pool wall. Had a buddy come by and replumb the pool filter system and while he was there he noticed I have a rust issue at the base of the wall below the skimmer that has broke open about 2' in height. Gotta do something with it before it rips the wall out and drains the pool. If that happens, I get to use the bobcat to push it all in the woods. They are very versatile that way

I could not imagine being without one at this point in life. I have all kinds of attachments for it as well. My 1st father in law got me messing with them back in the late 80's. he had a 543 for his chicken houses and hated it so i got put to work It went from there to tearing out trees and driveway work with it. He had a little woods backhoe attachment but no tractor so I made a mount for it to put on the bobcat which opened up even more things we could do. He got a wild hair in him one day, loaded it up and set out to the new holland tractor place. A friend had convinced him that one of the little boomer tractors with backhoe and front loader was the ticket. Traded the bobcat in and brought it home. 2 weeks later we were loading it up to take it back. the 1st load of dirt he had in the front loader tipped the tractor over when he turned the corner. The dealer had already sold his bobcat so off we went to the bobcat place where he bought a 643. I used that until my wife and I split and I had to go buy this 763. I would love to have a track bobcat in the 190 range but just can't justify the cost.
