Have you ever found old Hot Wheels hanging on the pegs?

Now, it wouldn't be a surprise to see this at a specialty store or a collector's store, but in a typical retail store like Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, etc., I would never expect this.

I was at a Wal-Mart today, browsing the pegs, and ran across some different, but familiar cards hanging on the pegs. I looked at them and then flipped them over to check the copyright dates. I picked up a couple Purple Passions that I didn't have. One copyright 2002 and the other 2003, making them 2003 and 2004 models respectively.

I actually saw one with a 1998 date, making it a 1999 model. The thing is 13 years old and hanging on the pegs at a Wal-Mart! Someone must have shoved some cases back in a dark corner and forgotten about them for a few years or something.

This is unusual. They must have been overlooked back in the store room somehow. Those stores don't leave anything in stock for long.

Plus the fact that I saw probably 30 or 40 when I was there, not to mention what they had already sold, across several years worth of dates. Somewhere, someone ran across several old cases laying around.

I found some old ones; like that; around Christmas time. I'll see if I can find them. I may have pulled them off the cards; some were beat up.
