Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

Well, here it is fellas, the next generation 2019 Silverado. This particular one is a Trail Boss edition, so no photos of what the standard trucks will look like. I don't know how I feel about it... There are some aspects that I like, but overall I'm not feeling it. I like the headlights which remind me of earlier generations and the return of the CHEVROLET tailgate, but the sides make me think of a Tundra or the dreadful new Titan. What do you say truck gurus?

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

Not a fan of the "sculpted" sides to the doors. At least the wheel wells are starting to look a bit better instead of being square. Also, the elongated exhaust outlets just don't say TRUCK to me. More like you might see on a 'Vette or a Lamborghini. Not for me but then I have a '71 restored 4x4 so what do I know about new trucks, LOL !!

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

Ugh, they're doing the miss-matched front/rear fender area like they did on the 07-13's.

I like it from the front of the cab back.

I don't know... maybe the GMC will look better. REALLY glad I bought a 2015. I love the bodystyle of the truck I have.

*Edit* I just noticed this is THE FIRST TIME GM has used truely round wheel wells since 1972!

Finally, they rounded the wheel wells. I don't like the narrow, tall wheel wells of the last gens. Still cant afford one tho.

When they make it a real truck with 2 doors and none of the fluffy doodads I'll start to care.

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

I really like my 15 so far. I’ll wait for the GMC and the other trim lines. I imagine when they update the HD line I’ll be ready for another new work truck. What I see so far I like but hard to tell when this is basically a trail version.

Here is how far out of the loop I am on the newer stuff. You could have said here is my 2012 Silverado and I wouldn't have known different.

we're building a log cabin and a 36x50 garage on our land for less than one of these new "plastic" trucks , Why anyone would even consider these over priced trucks is beyond me ?

Yup! I'm building my 40x50' shop with the plastic truck funds so i can build a metal truck. I have a 4 door square body with a Duramax and Alison in the works. I guess i'll attach a house to the shop.

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

I see people with half million dollar homes ,new cars and trucks ,boats ,4 wheelers and wonder how they make payments on it all and why would you want to ? The only debt I have currently are doctors bills and there aint much left over after utilities and groceries .But what I have is mine ,will never be another new car or truck for me .

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

They are a nice new vehicle for someone to go out and buy, if they can afford it. I think it's come to the point they have to come up with a new name for this type of vehicle, same as they did for SUVs once they became something other than what they began as and a new market erupted. I like these things but remember work trucks? Remember the blue collars who drive them and build the houses office workers driving snazzy pickups live in? Have any idea how much money they make?

Really cool I think. It's along the lines of buying a Camaro only it's a truck. It's as useful and economical as a truck as a Camaro is as a family car. If I won the lottery I might give some thought to buying one. But first I need a work truck.

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

I would like an extended cab long box diesel automatic 1 ton with cloth seats, rubber floor mat, basic power windows, locks, AC and no additional electronic gizmos, work truck model. Solid front axle too please. $30k no more. Oh, and I don't need 900 ft/lbs, go back to 6-700ft/lbs and 20+mpg. This race to 1,000+ft/bs of torque to the tune of 12mpg at $50-80k is bullcrap.

Instant first thought was why did they make the box look like a ford.

Re: Next Gen 2019 Silverado Previewed

I like it overall, but trucks are too expensive now. Maybe I will own one in 25 years and restore it...if they make it that long.

I was looking at buying a 2017 3500 single cab single rear wheel 4x4 work truck gas and it was 40,000$....

I suppose it depends what you do for a living. Some of the oil company’s dictate the age of vehicles that they allow on their sites. Nothing over 5 years the money is extremely good so we are forced to up grade often. My trucks are usually wornout in 5 years or sometimes less. My 2015 has over 200kms on it already and the roads are not easy on these trucks at all. Trust me I cry every time I need a new one. But don’t want to give up the income. My work trucks I agree have more gadgets than I need but SL or WT s are fancier now than what top of the line was 10-15 years ago.

New trucks just don’t excite me. This looks like a over stuffed Colorado. Looks a lot like the other trucks on the market. I’d build an old truck with the money being spent on new trucks and still have something much nicer. Plus it wouldn’t look like everyone else’s. Thanks for sharing the pics.

In '67 Chevy came out with the Custom Sport Truck option. Before that they were Deluxe then Custom. Now Custom Sport Truck is what they are.

Take the emblems off and I would have guessed Ford or Toyota.

My biggest problem with the new vehicles, is, they try to think for you.

If you think about it, how do you come up with a new appealing design every year.

I built spec (tract) houses my whole career. It really got old trying to change the design enough every time, to look different than the last one.
